Only 5 countries in the world ( Australia being one) are still using 1080
Being classified as a 'pest' does not mean an animal is incapable of experiencing pain, fear or distress.
🌏 Why is 1080 still permitted in Australia?
Despite being banned or heavily restricted in many countries, 1080 remains an authorised pest-control method in Australia.
While managing introduced species is important for protecting native biodiversity, this should not come at the expense of basic animal welfare.
RSPCA Australia considers 1080 an inhumane poison because of the suffering animals can experience before death.
Every animal deserves consideration of its welfare, regardless of species or conservation status.
We need stronger animal welfare protections, greater accountability and investment in effective, humane alternatives to poisoning.
📢 It's time to end reliance on methods that cause prolonged and preventable suffering.
