Long before there were thousands of blue trees around the world, there was just one, standing quietly in the middle of a paddock.
At the heart of Blue Tree Project is Jayden's story.
Back in 2014, Jayden and his mate Tjarda stumbled across a leftover tin of blue paint in the shed on his family farm. Armed with paint brushes and a bit of mischief, they painted a non-living tree bright blue as a practical joke.
For four years, the blue tree remained their secret. They often laughed about how long it would take Jayden's dad to find it.
Tragically, Jayden died by su***de in 2018 at the age of 28.
When Jayden's loved ones gathered to celebrate his life, Tjarda shared the story of the blue tree for the first time. What started as a light-hearted prank became the start of something bigger.
Inspired by Jayden, his sisters, Kendall and Erryn, together with his best mate Simon, created Blue Tree Project.
Today, that one blue tree has become thousands. They stand as reminders to check in on the people around us, start conversations about mental health and let people know they don't have to face life's challenges alone.
Jayden's legacy lives on in every blue tree and in the conversations, connection and hope they continue to inspire π
