TSH Since 1967, Teach Speak Hear (formerly Telethon Speech & Hearing) has been supporting WA children with hearing, speech and language needs.

We are a not-for-profit registered charity and independent school, providing holistic healthcare and education. Telethon Speech & Hearing (TSH) is a Western Australian based not-for-profit organisation, registered charity and independent school offering quality diagnostic, therapy and education supports to empower children with their hearing, speech and language development. Originating in 1966, T

SH began with a group of parents, who had great hopes for the future of their profoundly deaf children and refused to settle for what they thought was β€œsecond-best”. These parents decided to start a school of their own. With five students, no premises, little money and no experience, they made a commitment to pursue the very best oral education for their children. The following year they started The Speech & Hearing Centre for Children WA Inc., and a registered school officially opened on 6th February 1967. Today known as Telethon Speech & Hearing, our centre has grown since these humble beginnings and is the only place in WA that provides diagnostic, education and therapy services all in one location. As experts in our field we excel in bringing together services to support children and families to speak, hear, connect and learn in ways that empower them to live fulfilling lives. TSH is a Registered NDIS Provider and can help eligible children and families through the NDIS. Call (08) 9387 9888, email [email protected] or visit www.tsh.org.au to discuss how we can best support your child and family.

The early years can make a lifetime of difference. That's why our team was delighted to welcome the Hon. Meredith Hammat MLA, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Preventative Health, to our Wembley centre and share the breadth of hearing, speech and language services Teach Speak Hear provides to children and families from infancy through to school age.

During her visit, Ms Hammat met with families participating in our Chatterbox and Talkabout programs and gained insight into the way our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to support children at every stage of their early development. She also learned about the impact of our services across schools, communities and clinics throughout Western Australia.

We were pleased to showcase our facilities and discuss the critical role that early intervention plays in helping children reach their full potential. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the life-changing outcomes that can be achieved when children and families receive the right support at the right time.

In the last week of Term 2, St Joseph's School, Moora celebrated 50 Years of National NAIDOC Week.

TSH's Community Liaison Officer, Kylie, had the pleasure of volunteering at the school's day of celebration.

It was a fantastic day, with students and the wider community enjoying a variety of activities, including mural painting, storytelling, constructing mia-mias, face painting, and sharing kangaroo stew and damper.

NAIDOC Week 2026 recognised the achievements of the past 50 years while looking ahead to the future. Throughout July, TSH took the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We thank St Joseph's School for hosting such a meaningful and engaging event and for bringing the community together to celebrate this important milestone.
