Spoiler alert!
30 October speakers “Blades of Oary” are a team of four young ladies (who’ve never rowed before) who are going to compete in a 4,800km boat race across the Atlantic Ocean in December.
The team is made up of a Retrieval Nurse, Teacher, Rescue Helicopter Crew Person and Occupational Therapist, all working full time- but who are raising FUNds for Royal Flying Doctor Service of Western Australia and RUAH Community Services of Western Australia.

Friday 16th October breakfast will present editor of 'Have a Go News', Jen Merigan.
The paper was launched 35 years ago as a small independent newspaper for informing and inspiring older West Australians. As a second generation editor Jen is continuing the work of her parents and has grown the publication to become part of thousands of lives across the state.
We breakfast at the Royal Perth Golf Club, Labouchere Road, South Perth 7.10am for 7.25am start. Free parking in the car park between Amherst and Richardson Streets until 9am.

Fifteen members and partners from Mill Point Rotary visited the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Guides John and Steven showed them around the various levels of the Institute building. They were able to view many of the laboratories and work areas in use.

Steven gave a very interesting background on the evolution of DNA research and the many West Australian professors involved over the years. A particularly fascinating exhibit was one of the six surviving original specimen plates from Alexander Fleming when he discovered penicillin. Steven also gave a very informative audiovisual presentation on the founder Harry Perkins and the many breakthrough projects the Institute has been involved in.

On Friday 9th October breakfast, we will hear from volunteer firefighter Rob Storey about Rob’s Long Walk Home.
Rob completed a 3,445-kilometre walk from Melbourne to Perth in July 2026, raising over $66,500 for Neuromuscular WA.

Remember to wear your silly hat and donate $5 towards Australian Rotary Health’s “Lift the Lid on Mental Illness” campaign.

At our breakfast on Friday 2nd October, we will be joined by Patrick Morrison, who is the Assistant Curator, Maritime Heritage at the WA Museum.
Patrick is a Maritime Archaeologist and Technical Diver - an expert in underwater photogrammetry and has recorded significant shipwrecks with the WA Museum. Patrick will present on Wrecks of the Swan River.

Friday 25th September.
Past Mill Point member Jim Walker AM is well known to many of us. His has given significant service to the mining sector, to history preservation organisations, and to the community.
Jim has worked tirelessly to support the WA Training Awards and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.
Jim is Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Western Australia and will enlighten us on the mysteries of Freemasonry.
