A HISTORIC DAY FOR THE TONGAN DIASPORA IN WA 🇹🇴

Tomorrow night, the Prime Minister of Tonga, Hon. Lord Fakafanua, meets his people in the West.

This is the first visit by a Prime Minister of Tonga to Western Australia, and the first ever TALANOA with our WA diaspora. Tongan WA Incorporated is honoured to host it.

Kalapu Fofo’anga ‘o WA will welcome the Prime Minister and our dignitaries the Tongan way, with kava and song. They will be led by Patron Sione Ofa Piukala and President Wilfed Vuna.

MĀLŌ ‘AUPITO, WESTERN AUSTRALIA 🇹🇴

WA Tonga Day Festival 2026 is done. Our hearts are full.

On Saturday, Coogee Beach Reserve became a Tonga Day village. Families came. Children sang. Dancers moved, and the crowd honoured them with fakapale. Strangers left as friends.

To His Excellency Mr Curtis Tuihalangingie, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Tonga to Australia: thank you for returning to stand with us.

To the Hon Fane Fotu Fituafe, Minister for Internal Affairs, CEO "Akanesi Fakafanua Paunga and the Tongan delegation: you crossed the ocean to be with your people in the West. We will not forget it.

To our funding partners, Lotterywest, the Office of Multicultural Interests, Fungalei and E2 Distribution and the City of Cockburn: this day exists because you believed in it.

To our 2026 partners, Rugby League World Cup 2026, Western Force, Bunnings Warehouse Australia, and Spudshed Fresh Food Market: thank you for your generosity.

Special Acknowledgement to the two representatives from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and All our Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme workers who travelled to be with us and no stage fright next year. Safe Travels.

We’ll do it again. Bigger. Louder. Same love.
