Pearces Creek Community Hall is centrally located in a beautiful tranquil country setting 20 minutes travel time from Lismore, Ballina and Bangalow. In 1897, Mr Hugh Kirkland donated the land to the community and the occa

sion was marked with a picnic on March 5th. In the early days, the hall was used to assist those travelling by horse and cart through the countryside at night. The hall would provide shelter for the travellers and the nearby creek would provide a rest area for livestock. Community gatherings were often held on Sundays. The original building cost 52.10 pounds and was 30x18 foot. On 3rd February 1926 the hall that stands today was opened by Mrs. Hugh Kirkland Senr. Timber, that was considered the best of its class, was used to build the Hall, and supplied by Messrs. West & Sharpe of Dunoon. The builder was Walter Gaggin and Mr. G Oliver, chairman of the hall committee, was responsible for planning. C Eggins of Pearces Creek Road supplied six large Aladdin lamps to light up the hall. On turning the key in 1926, Mrs. Kirkland Senr said she "hoped that the same united spirit and generous goodwill which had always prevailed for everything in Pearce's Creek would continue, and that the new hall would prove a blessing and help to the district." Afterwards an ample lunch was served under the Moreton Bay figs.

Hall maintenance - today it was about managing the large camphor.

It will reshoot and provide shade, but needs to be managed to prevent damage to the hall by the roots.

Thanks to Ash and Johnny from AAI for their wonderful work, to Peter and Scott and Simon for many hours volunteering.

This hall is community owned and managed, so we can't call on council or crown estate to do the work. We rely on donations, hall hires, cake sales and volunteers to support the ongoing management of this beautiful little 129 year old room.

Support us by coming to some brilliant live music (and buying cakes!), to our bush dance in August and our annual produce auction in September.

Or hire the hall for your winter lunch or next family and friends gathering.

Pearces Creek 'Winter Sessions'.

16 musicians, 4 events, 1 community hall.
In the Northern Rivers this July.

As the seasons shift quickly to dark nights, old sweaters and warm beanies, the folks at Pearces Creek Hall are stepping up with a series of opportunities to gather in an intimate warm hall, with sparkling fairy lights, home made food and a curated programme of beautiful music.

The inaugural Pearces Creek Winter Sessions offers diverse music from ‘dark folk’, candlelit harp cello and clarinet, 70’s inspired folk and country, and finger picking bluegrass, all shared with a respectful engaged listening audience in a room that continues to build a reputation amongst musicians for a warm welcome and brilliant acoustics.

July features sixteen artists over four events, including ME Baird, Orly Raquel, Ashleigh Bo, Lake Kelly, Lily Innis, Ryan Martin John, Brodie Buttons, Mandy Hawkes and Jono B. Smith

Saturday July 4th 6pm: ME Baird and the Fold, with Orly Miller. An evening of Dark Folk and Gothic Musings

Sunday July 12th 5pm: Lily Innis, Katy L Bedford, Lake Kelly. A Candlelit Winter Solstice with improvised music on cello, clarinet and harp.

Saturday July 18th 6.30pm: Ryan Martin John, Tom Kneebone and Tin Town. Americana, Bluegrass, Folk. Album launch 'Big Love' by Ryan Martin John

Saturday July 25th 5pm: Mandy Hawkes, Brodie Buttons, Jono B Smith, Ksea Mudge, Christina Webster. 'A Midwinter Night of Folk Singin'. Bluegrass, Australiana, Folk, 'Dirt Music'.

Details of all events are on the Pearces Creek Hall Facebook and linktree pages.

A memorable weekend 🪶

Last week the germs made their way in and I spent my time trying to fight the flu off, then tonsillitis arrived conveniently right on a weekend with two gigs I’d been looking forward to for a long time. On Friday night I was seriously wondering if my voice would make it.

There was no way I was letting it beat me.
I figure if people are making an effort to show up for me, I’m gonna give them every bit of vocal I’ve got until it gives in, and she hung in to the very last note!

So thank you to those who showed up for us, especially yesterday on a cool Northern Rivers Sunday afternoon, a glimmer of golden ray trying ever so hard to grace us with its presence, the dearest community hall, tea and cake, serenade and story.

Lots of love to Simon and the community of Pearces Creek Hall for all the effort and support and to Thor Phillips and .jasmine.phillips for sharing the show.

A little vocal rest now before the next gig 🎶
