🌋🔥 THE FLOOR IS LAVA! 🔥🌋
What an awesome night we had at Joeys this week!
Our hall was completely transformed into one huge Floor is Lava obstacle course, and we were lucky enough to have our friends from Beaconsfield Officer Joey Unit join us for the adventure.
The Joeys worked in patrols and had to make their way around the course together without touching the floor. It wasn’t just about getting themselves across they had to communicate, encourage each other and use plenty of teamwork to make sure their whole patrol could successfully get from one end of the course to the other without falling into the “lava”! 🌋
There were plenty of laughs, some very careful balancing, a few tricky sections and lots of great moments where the Joeys stopped to help each other work out the best way through. It was fantastic to see them problem-solving together, building confidence and learning that sometimes the easiest way to complete a challenge is by working as a team.
What made the night even more special was that the entire setup was hand-built over a couple of days by the Joey Leaders from both Pakenham and Beaconsfield Officer, using spars, ropes and plenty of traditional Scout pioneering skills. A lot of time went into building, tying, adjusting and testing the different sections to get everything ready for the Joeys to enjoy.
The course gave the Joeys a great opportunity to challenge themselves while also practising some important Scouting skills like communication, cooperation, resilience and looking out for their fellow patrol members.
A huge thank you to all of the Pakenham and Beaconsfield Joey Leaders who put in the time and effort behind the scenes to create such an amazing setup, and to everyone from Beaconsfield - Officer Scout Group for coming along and sharing the night with us.
There is something pretty special about seeing a pile of spars and ropes turned into an adventure that keeps a hall full of Joeys smiling, thinking and working together all night!
