Our activities include: Faceting, cabbing, silverwork, casting, enamelling, beading, carving, fossicking trips and workshops.

We are a hobby club run by volunteers. We do not repair jewellery or cut & polish for money - we teach you how to do it yourself! Club Hours: Tuesday 8.30am to 2.30pm, Wednesday 8.30 till 2.30pm Thursday 8.30am to 2.30 Thursday night….4.30 to 9pm
Beading and Cabbing 2nd Saturday of the month 9-2pm

What is cabbing?

It's the process of cutting, shaping and polishing a stone into a cabochon, a domed shape with a flat back that can be used in jewellery.

This is an example from one of our beginners on a stone they found, showing the initial shaping of the rough stone and the polished, finished shape.

Quite a few productive members in here today ( Thursday) so we have something to show you.
1st off we have Barry back (after a year away) with some gorgeous opals he was polishing.
Then there is Dave who has made a silver cast ring with an emerald gemstone.
Next is Doreen who has set a Russian Seraphinite stone ( only place you can get this stone) and made the choker for it as well, then the next photo is the back which is just as attractive as the front. Well done Doreen.
Then we have Colin’s beautiful soft coloured opals he was working on flashing all the colours of the rainbow.
Next is Gloria’s opal which she is wire wrapping to make a pair of earrings. Brilliant idea as you get to see all sides of the opal….they are a work in progress.
Last but not least is Sam and Inari’s amazing array of polished gemstones, Sam polishes and Inari sets them in silver. Don’t ask me the names of them all because I only recognise the Turquoise and Rhodonite ones.

Some more items from Michelle which she wore into the club today. The first is a Silver and copper etched bangle which is unique and attractive. The second is another very interestingly constructed pendant which certainly makes a statement. Trust Michelle to come up with these pieces…beautiful work..again!!

This is one of Michelle’s pieces which I missed a few weeks ago so am now listing it as I think it is so unusual and very ART DECO. It certainly makes a statement, thanks Michelle!

Here we have one of Henry’s unique pendants with lapis lazuli gemstone. Keep coming up with these unique styles Henry, it sort of looks Egyptian to me.

SATURDAY 9 till 2pm and SUNDAY. 9 till 2pm. NOT OPEN MONDAY. We are right next door to the Woodturners exhibition so you get 2 for 1 stop!!
Come and see what we do here, some of the jewellery we make will be on sale and you can check us out. Because I’m sure you will want to join and learn to polish gemstones and set stones, do enamelling, faceting, silver casting, go on trips to find gemstones etc. SO, SEE YOU NEXT WEEKEND.

Two more brilliant pieces of jewellery both from Doreen, there isn’t much she can’t do when it comes to jewellery. The amazing bracelet was made this last week with a Lapis gemstone and a unique style for the bangle and it looks magical on. The ring is a man’s ring and she has embellished it with a beaten copper centrepiece. I love both these items, good work Doreen.

Some unusual items today first is Henry with 4 opals on his silver heart pendant ..good job Henry. Commented on his photo below. Setting 4 stones on the one item would be my worst nightmare !!
Then we have all Michelle’s amazingly different pieces, very classy too. I’ve written comments under each photo and I was baffled as to the orangey tint on the silver in Michelle’s photos then realised it was reflection from my apricot shirt. Michelle is a very innovative jeweller. I missed photographing one of her pieces so hope she brings it another day.
