Rover Scouts Victoria

Rover Scouts Victoria Rover Scouts Victoria is the Young Adult (18-26 years old) section of Scouts Victoria. Who joins Rovers? Rovers is the oldest section in Scouts.

People join Rovers because they are between 18 and 25 years old and are looking to enjoy friends for life, the outdoors, helping others and challenge. Some people join Rovers because they have been in Scouting before. Many others join because they know someone who is a Rover. Others see an ad, a website, or see Rovers active in their community, and decide to give it a try! What's Rovers about? Rov

ers is about friends for life

A Rover Unit is a growing group of friends. Units generally meet weekly; sometimes at their own den, other times away. They also have weekend camps and activities, as well as parties and events with other Rovers. Units have diverse programs that cater to all their members. Every Unit is different. Each has its own traditions, special interests and personalities. A Rover Unit runs itself, with an elected Unit Leader and executive. The Rover Advisor and region Rover Community are there to support and guide. Rovers is about the outdoors

Rover Units love to camp. Camping can be a base for hiking, canoeing, motorsport or other activities, or it can simply be a chance to wind down, enjoy some gourmet camp cooking and have a chat. Rovers have access to a vast range of adventurous activities. Through the Scouting Movement there is a huge network of expertise to help you build your skills or try something new. This also means that activities like snow sports and water sports are cheaper than anywhere else. Rovers is about helping others

Rovers give back. We help out with Scouting activities and community causes. Our motto is ‘Service’, and each Unit lives up to it in different ways. Rovers is about challenge

Your personal goals are important. The Baden Powell Scout Award challenges you to develop existing skills or learn new ones. Also, there are plenty of opportunities to develop leadership and management skills within your Unit or while assisting with a major activity. If you prefer to roll your sleeves up, helping out at Mafeking Rover Park or one of the two Rover ski chalets can give practical skills for your career and life. All this is possible because there are experienced Rovers and Rover Advisors to assist along the way.

What’s been happening around Victorian Rovers in May? 👀

Units headed to Tallarook State Forest to help out at Scout Hike, running activities and rocking some very creative costumes 🕺🏻

Mullumbimba Rover Unit welcomed five new members with a candle-lit investiture, while 4th Knox put their skills to the test with some sensory-deprived cooking 🍳🙈

A.B. Balcombe spent the weekend in Warburton for a unit camp and picked up some very snazzy matching shirts along the way (Rover red, of course 👀).

Sir Dallas Brooks put their knowledge to the test at a fact-filled Trivia Night with a fantastic turnout, while Mordy Rovers and RJ Schutt hit the go-kart track to show off their driving skills 🏎️🏆

It’s been a busy few weeks for Victorian Rovers! 💪🔥

What has your Unit been up to lately?

With the recent bushfire impact at Mafeking, we previously made the difficult decision not to run Mudbash in its usual format this year so the site could have the time it needs to recover properly.

Unfortunately, we also need to advise that the planned Mafeking Open Day over the King’s Birthday long weekend will no longer be going ahead. With the Shire's continued road closures in the area (except for local residents), the ongoing clean-up in the district of trees and debris, and the stress that the local community is going through, it's not safe nor fair to go ahead with an event like the open day.

Further communication will be out next week.

Thank you everyone for your understanding and ongoing support of Mafeking - we look forward to being back in the future when conditions allow
