💫 Patrick Ngalmi 💫

Patrick began painting when he was young and was inspired to join the Art Centre over 10 years ago to learn from his sister. Usually one to shy away from the spotlight, something has shifted in Patrick over the last 6 months and his dedication to and passion for painting has brought a whole new life to his work (and to the Art Centre!).

Patrick can usually be seen with multiple canvases on the go, jumping from work to work as inspiration strikes.

We can’t wait to see his work up on the walls at the upcoming group show “Solwada” at in April. His first time exhibiting!

Artist Spotlight 💫 Bruce Wilfred

Bruce was born in Numbulwar into a family of artists and makers. He works across all different mediums but is especially known for his buffalo horn jewellery. He likes working on unusual materials and found objects where he can combine painting with grinding to get interesting colours and textures. Bruce paints Miny’tji (body markings) and family totems, and is working hard towards his upcoming exhibition at Aboriginal Bush Traders in Darwin.

Artist Spotlight 💫

Luke Djalgarrarra and Debbie Watson

This husband and wife team are central to the creative and cultural fabric of the Art Centre. There everyday, you will often find them painting on the verandah of the Printing Studio with kids and dogs in tow. Luke, from Goulburn Island, works in the style of his father who was a sculptor and painter. Together, with Debbie also on the brushes, they bring a new, colourful life to traditional sculptural styles.

Both multitalented, Luke also makes sure the other artists are supplied with stretched and primed canvases. Debbie also paints in her own unique style on canvas.

Works available online.
