Hello families, It would be wonderful if you could take the time and effort to take part in this family workshop you can call through and listen and have your input into the development of Mysterious Ruin City Tours.
Family Workshop Date: Tuesday 17th of February.
The topic we will be talking about;
1. Mapping Country and land use
* Which specific areas of Country are being talked about for tourism activities
* Clearly marking these areas on a map (even rough hand-drawn maps are fine to start with)
* Any buildings or land in Ngukurr that may be used (e.g. office, storage, accommodation, meeting space)
* Access roads – which roads are used to get to the site, and which areas of Country those roads pass through
2. Tourism offering – now and into the future
Have a think about:
* What tourism activities you want to offer to begin with
* What you might want to add in the mid-term
*What the longer-term vision could be
Any infrastructure that may be needed over time (e.g. shelters, camps, buildings, signage), even if it’s not for now
This helps ensure we don’t lock the business into something too narrow too early.
3. Vision, mission and values
This is about the “why” behind the business:
* Why does the family want to do this?
* What does the business mean for family, culture and community?
* What values should guide how the business operates and grows?
These foundations are really important and will guide everything else we do.
4. Cultural direction, branding and stories (if time allows)
If family have capacity, it would also be helpful to think about:
* What stories you are comfortable sharing publicly
* Preferred imagery of Country
* Any colours, symbols or cultural elements you feel strongly about
If we can reach some early agreement here, it will allow us to brief a designer to start working on logos and a simple style guide.
Section 19 Land Use Agreement from Northern Land Council considerations
We’ll work through this together in the workshop, but some early thinking around:
Which areas may need a lease versus a licence
How long the family might want access to these areas
Keeping future business growth in mind
This aligns with advice from Anna, who specialises in land tenure and Section 19 processes.
Please let family know that nothing needs to be perfect – even rough ideas, sketches or notes are incredibly helpful. The goal is to arrive in February with everyone already thinking about the same things, so we can focus on decision-making together.
