💚 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒💚

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of bringing together some of the wonderful people who help make the Mt Larcom Show possible at our 2026 Volunteer Thank You Luncheon.

The Mt Larcom Show is proudly 100% volunteer run, with more than 500 volunteers contributing their time, skills and energy before, during and after Show weekend. Today was our opportunity to stop, catch up and simply say thank you.

To everyone who joined us Saturday– and to every volunteer who has contributed throughout the year – 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤. The success of our Show belongs to all of you.

A huge thank you to the Boyne Valley CWA for providing our delicious lunch and dessert today. It was a wonderful meal and very much appreciated by everyone attending.

We also sincerely thank Glenn Butcher MP for generously donating a YETI hamper to help us recognise the recipient of our 2026 Outstanding Volunteer Award.

🏆 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐡 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭.

Sarah’s contribution extends across so many areas of our Society – from helping with various Show sections and the Show Ball, to volunteer meals, our horse sports and simply stepping in wherever a hand is needed. Sarah represents the community spirit and willingness to help that makes our Show possible, and we are very proud to recognise her contribution.

The 2026 Mt Larcom Show welcomed around 13,500 visitors, involved more than 5,000 competition entries, over 20 schools, 70+ sponsors and community partners – all brought together with the support of our incredible volunteer community.

Thank you to everyone who attended today, and most importantly, thank you to all our volunteers.

The Mt Larcom Show simply wouldn’t happen without you. 💚

The Mt Larcom Show Committee extends our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Robert Pailthorpe ‘Bobbie’.

For more than four decades, Bobby was a familiar and much-loved face around the Mt Larcom Show - always generous with his time, quick with a laugh and happy to lend a hand. His contribution, friendship and unmistakable presence will be fondly remembered.

We’ve got some VERY exciting news… your cans and bottles can now do more than take up valuable space in the shed! 😂

Thanks to our mates at CQ Recycling & Recovery - Gladstone, we’ve officially installed a Containers for Change machine right at the front of the Mt Larcom Showgrounds!

And the best part? 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝟐𝟒/𝟕!
No need to drive through the Showgrounds, - just pull up, pop in your eligible containers and let the machine do its thing.

💰 And yep — you can keep the cash too!
Bring down your own eligible cans and bottles, cash them in for 10¢ each, and pocket the refund yourself into your nominated account. Donate it, save it or spend it — totally up to you!

Want to make your recycling dollars go even further? You can donate your refund to a local community group! We’ll be putting up signage with the donation codes for participating groups.

The Mt Larcom Show Society is deeply saddened by the passing of Robert “Bobby” Pailthorpe - a much-loved Gladstone local who gave so generously of his time to so many.

Bobby was a true volunteer at heart. For more than 40 years, he was part of the Mt Larcom Show, sharing his time and expertise through the PA services and lending a hand wherever he was needed. But his contribution went well beyond the Show, with Bobby giving his time to many organisations, events and people throughout the Gladstone region.

He had a wonderful way of making people feel welcome, and his friendship, humour and generosity will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Our heartfelt love and condolences are with Bobby’s wife Del, family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you, Bobby, for a lifetime of giving. You made a difference to so many. 💚
