Think about the young people you know around Mt Larcom and our wider region.
The one who’s always helping out.
The one who loves the land.
The one who’s passionate about horses, livestock, machinery, agriculture or rural life.
The one who’s always got an idea.
The one who quietly gets stuck in and makes things happen.

The Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards are open to young men and women aged 20–29 who have an interest in agriculture and rural issues and are involved - or willing to become involved - in their local Agricultural Show.

So, don’t just think of someone…

We’ve got some VERY exciting news… your cans and bottles can now do more than take up valuable space in the shed! 😂

Thanks to our mates at CQ Recycling & Recovery - Gladstone, we’ve officially installed a Containers for Change machine right at the front of the Mt Larcom Showgrounds!

And the best part? 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝟐𝟒/𝟕!
No need to drive through the Showgrounds, - just pull up, pop in your eligible containers and let the machine do its thing.

💰 And yep — you can keep the cash too!
Bring down your own eligible cans and bottles, cash them in for 10¢ each, and pocket the refund yourself into your nominated account. Donate it, save it or spend it — totally up to you!

Want to make your recycling dollars go even further? You can donate your refund to a local community group! We’ll be putting up signage with the donation codes for participating groups.

If your community group would like to receive donations, you’ll need to:

♻️ Get ready to turn everyone’s empties into something worthwhile!

The Mt Larcom Show Society is deeply saddened by the passing of Robert “Bobby” Pailthorpe - a much-loved Gladstone local who gave so generously of his time to so many.

Bobby was a true volunteer at heart. For more than 40 years, he was part of the Mt Larcom Show, sharing his time and expertise through the PA services and lending a hand wherever he was needed. But his contribution went well beyond the Show, with Bobby giving his time to many organisations, events and people throughout the Gladstone region.

He had a wonderful way of making people feel welcome, and his friendship, humour and generosity will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Our heartfelt love and condolences are with Bobby’s wife Del, family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you, Bobby, for a lifetime of giving. You made a difference to so many. 💚

From leadership and wellbeing to financial confidence, business, social media and everything in between, it’s a day filled with practical ideas, inspiring stories and genuine connections.

Think the Showgirl Awards are all about beauty, ball gowns and being the most glamorous person in the room?

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧.

The Queensland Country Life Showgirl Awards are about leadership, confidence, community, agriculture and ambition.

We’re looking for young women aged 18–28 who are passionate about their community, interested in regional Queensland, connected to agriculture, keen to develop their skills - or simply ready to step outside their comfort zone and try something new.

You don’t need to have years of experience in the show movement. You don’t need to be a “typical Showgirl”.

You just need to be you, willing to have a go and ready to take on an opportunity that could take you much further than you expect. Represent Mt Larcom at the local competition, progress to Sub-Chamber judging and you could even find yourself representing the region at the Queensland State Final at the Ekka!

Nominations close 30 November 2026.

The Beef Section is always a fantastic part of the Mt Larcom Show, bringing together passionate exhibitors, impressive cattle and plenty of country pride.

From the preparation and presentation of the cattle to the competition in the ring, there’s plenty of hard work and dedication behind the scenes - and we love showcasing it at the Show!

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞 𝐌𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦'𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 𝐑𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫?

We’re looking for the next generation of rural leaders - and this could be your chance to step up!

The Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards are open to young men and women aged 20–29 who have a passion for agriculture, rural life and their local community, and who are involved, or ready to become more involved in their local Agricultural Show.

And here’s the important part: you don’t have to be a farmer!

You could be involved in:
- Farming, grazing or livestock
- Horses or equestrian
- Trades or rural contracting
- Transport, machinery or agricultural services
- Agribusiness
- Volunteering or participating in the Show
…and so much more!

You don’t need a degree, a particular job title or years of experience. We’re looking for people with passion, ideas, leadership potential and a willingness to get involved.

As Rural Ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to represent Mt Larcom, build your leadership skills, meet new people and become more involved in agriculture and the Queensland Agricultural Show movement.

We’ve been working hardbehind the scenes… and let’s just say, there are some exciting things on the way!

We’re getting ready to launch a range of new programs, opportunities and ways for our next-gen to get involved - and we’re pretty excited about what’s coming.

Whether you’re keen to have a go at something new, put your knowledge & skills to the test, represent your community, meet new people, create relationships, build your confidence or simply be part of something bigger… there could be an opportunity with your name on it.

We’ll be sharing more details very soon, so make sure you’re following along and keep your eyes peeled.

Because exciting opportunities are coming… and we want YOU to be part of it.

The Mt Larcom Show skies came alive with an incredible fireworks spectacular, and we’re still talking about the colours, the sparkle and the smiles it created across the Showgrounds.

A massive thank you to NRG for helping us create such a memorable moment for our community. Your support brought the wow factor and gave everyone a chance to stop, look up and enjoy a little bit of magic.
