Each year Chasing Change - Su***de Prevention Network in partnership with Mornington Peninsula Shire acknowledges World Su***de Prevention Day by hosting a Walk.

MCSC is very proud to support this event again this year.

The community is invited to come together to commemorate this day and reflect together on the lives lost to su***de.

📍We will gather on Sunday 13th September at Mornington Park from 9am - 12pm.

If you would like the name of a loved one lost to su***de to be read from the Memorial List at the Walk, please click "Register a Name" and register for a free "Memorial Roll Call” via link below.

Every Friday, Hotel Sorrento front Bar hosts its Local Friday Raffle, with all proceeds going to a selected local charity.

Last week, we were incredibly lucky to be the chosen recipient and received a wonderful donation from proceeds raised!

These funds will go directly towards helping us continue the work we do in supporting people in our community who are doing it tough.
And did you know for every dollar donated to MCSC we turn that into $4 worth of emergency relief!

We love our community and acts of kindness and generosity like this are a beautiful reminder of just how lucky we are to have so many people and businesses standing beside us.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Hotel Sorrento, and to everyone who bought a raffle ticket and helped make this donation possible. Together, we really can make a difference

There has been a little bit of change happening around MCSC lately, so we wanted to share some MCSC staff news with you, our wonderful community.

On Friday, we said a heartfelt goodbye to Yvonne, who has served our community with generosity, compassion, and dedication for the past 14 years and we are so excited to announce that Penny Eichstadt (pictured here) commenced in the role of Community Support Service Lead today!

Penny has already been part of the MCSC community for a little while and brings with her a wealth of experience, knowledge, energy, and a genuine passion for supporting people. We are thrilled to have Penny stepping into this important role and look forward to seeing her continue to make a difference in the lives of those we support.

Meanwhile, advertising for our new Housing Case Worker has now closed and we are currently in the process of interviewing. This role will add much-needed capacity to our work at Ranch 2.0 and help us better support people in our community who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

Lastly, we will soon be saying goodbye to Phillip Jones, who has been serving MCSC as our Marketing and Fundraising Lead. Phillip will be moving back to Canberra, and while we are sad to see him go, we are incredibly grateful for his commitment and contribution to MCSC. We wish him all the very best for his next adventure.

While there is certainly a lot of change happening across the organisation, one thing remains constant, our commitment to being there for our community through crisis and difficult times.

Our work has never been more needed, and we are incredibly grateful for the people who stand beside us every day.

To our volunteers, donors and supporters, thank you. We simply couldn’t do what we do without you.

Last night we said farewell to Yvonne who has been such an important part of the Mornington Community Support Centre family for an incredible 14 years.

Fourteen years of dedication, compassion, laughter, hard work and, most importantly, making a difference in the lives of so many people in our community.

It’s hard to put into words just how grateful we are for everything you have given to MCSC over the years. Your commitment to the people we support, your colleagues and this community.

While we are incredibly sad to see you go, we are also so thankful for the memories, the friendships and the lasting impact you leave behind.

Yvonne we wish you nothing but happiness, success and wonderful new adventures in whatever comes next.

Once part of the MCSC family, always part of the MCSC family and whilst we will loose a wonderful staff member we are gaining a new volunteer 😃

Warm hoodies, warm hearts, and a whole lot of community love!

A huge thank you to the wonderful team Perch for their continued support of MCSC and for their most recent donation of beautiful, quality hoodies.

As we continue supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community, donations like these make a very real difference. Something as simple as a warm hoodie can provide comfort, warmth, and dignity to someone doing it tough.

Perch was created with a vision of building genuinely meaningful community while producing quality garments through ethical practices and collaborations with good humans and talented artists.

And we reckon that philosophy shines through.

We’re really enjoying celebrating National Youth Volunteer Week with some very special visitors and we’ve been reminded once again that young people have such a wonderful capacity to care for their community.

Our friends from Toorak College dropped in with their fortnightly delivery of freshly prepared meals that we can freeze and give to people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of our community.

After delivering their meals, the students stayed for afternoon tea, giving us the chance to say a very big thank you for the kindness, time and care they continue to share with us here at MCSC.

And then there was another delivery of a very different kind from the students at Mount Eliza Primary School, a whole lot of love in the form of clothing donations for our Beach End Op Shop!
The students at Mount Eliza Primary know that all profits from our Op Shop, directly support the work we do here at MCSC!

From preparing meals, to donating clothing, to simply giving their time and learning more about what it means to support their community, these students are showing us that you’re never too young to make a difference.

We are so grateful to all our local schools and young people who choose to stand alongside MCSC to help us build a stronger, more connected community.

Thank you for showing us what youth volunteering looks like in action.

Celebrating the next generation of volunteers!

We’ve been having such a wonderful time celebrating Youth Volunteer Week, and this afternoon was a particularly special one!

We welcomed students from Balcombe Grammar to MCSC for a tour of our Centre, followed by afternoon tea with some of our wonderful volunteers, a chance to slow down, share a snack and say a very big thank you for all the ways these young people have supported our recent Winter Appeal.

The students have been incredible supporters of MCSC. Some have upcycled items from our Op Shop and showcased them in a fabulous fashion parade here at the Centre, while others opened their very own Balcombe Grammar Op Shop, raising much-needed funds to help us reach our Winter Appeal target.

It was so lovely to see our volunteers chatting and connecting with our young volunteers over afternoon tea. These moments are about so much more than fundraising, they’re about building connections, sharing the why behind what we do and encouraging young people to see the difference they can make in their own community.

We’re having such a wonderful time acknowledging the next generation of volunteers this Youth Volunteer Week and if this afternoon was anything to go by, we know our community is going to be in very good hands.

Wow… a Toastie Train delivery!

What a way to kick off Youth Volunteer Week, with an incredible delivery of 1,132 fresh ham and cheese sandwiches made by local Year 5 and 6 students from Mount Eliza Primary School!

We’ll be turning these delicious sandwiches into toasties to serve in our Meeting Room Café and share with our community.

Five classes, just 30 minutes each, and a little bit of friendly competition saw these amazing students come together to see just how many toasties they could make, all for a very good cause.

Every ingredient was donated by the school community and families, with some wonderful support from Bakers Delight Mt Eliza, Woolworths Mornington, and Woolworths Mt Eliza.

Most importantly, the students knew that every Toastie they made would go directly towards supporting people in our local community.

What a wonderful way to learn that small acts of volunteering can make a really big difference.

A huge thank you to Cassie and all the students, teachers, families, and local businesses who made the Toastie Train possible. We’re so grateful for your support and love seeing our local schools get involved in community supporting community.

1,132 toasties = 1,132 acts of kindness. What a way to start Youth Volunteer Week and with this year’s theme “your year to lead” our young people are certainly setting the bar high!
