A62 Craft & chatter day was well attended yesterday by about 55 members. It's a great opportunity to finish off crafts you may have lying around, chat to friends, make new friends & learn new skills too. A62 District Chairman Jude Degnan & Past President Debbie Winterburn ran workshops.

Tuesday 11th Aug we held our meeting & our guest speaker was our very own District Chairman Jude Degnan & A62 Secretary Chris Wickes, from IW Phillip Island. Jude filled us with information. We heard of her English/Scottish heritage, how her & husband Bill moved around with his work, before settling in Traralgon. Her family, grandchildren & hobbies & her love for Inner Wheel. She received a Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Club of Traralgon & joined Inner Wheel Latrobe in 2014. As we are the 1st club to host Jude we don't want to give too much away. We want all the other clubs to enjoy her visit 🌹

This is one of the ongoing projects we do as a club. We put toilet bags together for LRH (Latrobe Regional Hospital).
We collect, purchase & receive donations of soap, shampoo, conditioner etc (hotels used to be great for our samples, but lots don't supply the small toiletries anymore 😢). Robyn Cross did a quick phone around last week to put small toilet bags together for the Emergency Department. Madeleine & Alison Sinnott were available to help & we completed 95 bags. Robyn did the handover & they were extremely happy.

Yesterday we lit a candle in memory of our much loved member Wanda Tresidder, who passed away on Thursday. She was such a beautiful lady & will be sadly missed by everyone. Wanda was always known for her beautiful shoes 🌹

Yesterday we did things a little different for our changeover. We put on a high tea. It was a beautiful afternoon shared with friends. We had visitors from Moe Rotary, Bairnsdale, Phillip Island, Warragul & District.
We thanked Debbie for her 2yrs leading our club & welcomed Robyn Cross in as President. Robyn spoke on how we would be working together to "grow & flourish". We are all part of our working garden of friendship 🌹🌻🪻

Volunteering in the community.

At our meeting on Tuesday 9th June one of our members Sandra Demagistris spoke to us about being a volunteer. Sandra was a charter member of our club almost 30yrs ago. She spoke about something else very close to her heart, volunteering at St Vincent de Paul Society. She currently serves as President of the Moe Conference & earlier this year also took on the position of President of the Gippsland Central Council. This keeps her very busy, but she also loves meeting other wonderful volunteers. She gave us lots of background, but I hope I do it justice in this edited version.
St Vincent de Paul's was founded in Paris in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam & friends. He recognised hardship & decided to start helping people directly rather than just talking about it. The Society arrived in Melbourne in 1854 & the Moe Society started at St Kieran's in 1965. Their 60th anniversary was celebrated last yr.
In 1997 the Moe conference started a soup van but they also found soup & sandwiches was only part of it. It was connecting with the community too.
Sandra also explained the many ways St Vincent's assists the community & how our volunteer community service groups, such as Inner Wheel, Rotary, local schools, churches & businesses, help us to achieve more together.
