JAILBROKEN! ... UPDATE Read this to the end to hear the outcome - a real feel good Variety story.

Today Smooth Operator Eagle in his hire car tried to help out Innmate Jase & his wife Lou who broke down on their way to Kalbarri. They had a mechanic try to fix the car in Denham but without the right parts it wasn't possible. Swapping batteries got them down the road a bit further...but Jailbreak conked out again. The call was made and a tilt tray was on it's way to take them to Geraldton where they hopefully have more luck with getting a new alternator.

The Bash might be over but theres still Bash Cars on the road heading down to Perth, without the Variety Bash mechanics following along. Its nice to catch up again with Bashers on the road.... and try to help them out if in need.

We couldn't resist getting some footage today, but as we know ourselves, it's stressful when things go wrong. Best wishes to Jason & Lou for the rest of their trip in the Jailbreak Bash car.

UPDATE FROM JAILBREAK - I have to tell you this story… the auto elect we took the car to last night has a disabled daughter in a wheelchair and Variety have helped them in so many ways. He didn’t charge us for the car and he’s got us up and going. Gave me goosebumps when Jason told me the whole story …amazing how many people are touched by this wonderful charity.!! 💕

We did it! 🎉 On Thursday we rolled smoothly into Exmouth to finish the 2026 Vic Variety Bash!

2️⃣ cars — Smooth1 (which almost made it 2 days! 🛠️) and then Smooth2, where we caught up and bashed on! 🚗💨

📍 5,328km from Halls Gap to Exmouth. 🗺️

An amazing 10 days! 🙌 Andrew Eagle & Lenny had an absolute blast — they loved meeting and getting to know their fellow bashers, stickering up, and smoothing over the other bash cars! ✨

What a great scene to have all the cars parked on the footy oval with all the families turning up!

We celebrated at the Whalebone Brewery where the drinks were smooth 🍻, the food was awesome 🍕, and the speeches, awards, and announcements were top-notch. Not to mention the smooth moves Eagle showed everyone when he got up and did the Eagle Rock! 🕺🦅

Wow — the 2026 Vic Variety Bash fundraising total was an incredible, record-breaking $2,664,457! 💰
This included our own Smooth Operators fundraising total of an amazing $40,565! Thankyou to all of the businesses and individuals who donated and helped us achieve this. You legends are so smooth! 😎

At the celebration on Thursday night, the Smooth Operators were awarded the trophy for car crew who overcame the most obstacles on the bash! 🏆 Which was fantastic!

From Sm01 breaking down near Port Lincoln in SA, to revising our plan on the go after Plan A was written off... more plans were hatched, and we ended up finding another car — 'the one-tonne Rodeo' — and got it ready to roll! 🛻

Both of a quick smooth story 😎

Our Bash may not have gone to plan, we may have blown up, but we improvised and Bashed on!

We made it to the WA coast at Denham, Shark Bay last night. It sure is nice to see the water again! Currently enroute today to Coral Bay then inbound to Exmouth tomorrow to finish our amazing 2026 Variety Victoria Bash journey. 🔧We caught up with the Variety Bash mechanics, medics & gear truck organiser (and the beer truck boys!) and thanked them for their help upon the demise of SM01 and the resurrection of SM02. Today Andy fixed the air conditioning which is fantastic as I reckon we'll need it as we head north to Exmouth.

We smoothed them over with some Smooth Operators & 'Smooth as Hessian Un**es' stubby holders which we think will be put to very good use! Cheers boys 🍻
