🐨 From Raymond Island to koala communities across Australia!

More than 300 delegates gathered in Port Macquarie for the three-day 2026 Koala Conference — and Raymond Island was well represented!

Dr Sai Ravela from MIT flew in especially to present KoalaSnap, the innovative technology MIT has been developing with us to identify individual koalas at scale using photographs.

After two years of testing on Raymond Island, KoalaSnap is now ready to expand to other koala conservation groups across Australia — and several have already registered their interest following the presentation.

An exciting next step for a project that started right here on Raymond Island! 🐨🌿

The Raymond Island Community Survey was a collaborative effort between four community organisations:

# Raymond Island Sustainability Association (RISA)
