Help the Metung Fire Brigade Help You!
With the warmer and drier season, it's time for our community to turn its attention to property preparation (removing debris, clearing roofs and gutters etc).
We would also ask - if you have a hydrant or 'fire point' outside your property, please keep it clear of grass, weeds and debris if possible.
If the hydrant is deep, or you can't find it, please let us know the address so we can undertake some remedial maintenance.
If you can remove any debris, please ensure you are using appropriate safety equipment (gloves, string boots etc) and please do not attempt to open or remove the plate.
Any issues, let us know.

Questions about AusAlert? We might have the answer you’re looking for! 👀📱

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system. It’s a fast and reliable way to help people be informed and better prepared during emergencies.

On Monday 27 July 2026 at around 2pm AEST, a national test of AusAlert will happen. During the test, all compatible mobile devices in Australia will be sent a Critical Alert at the same time.

Learn what AusAlert is, how it works, and what to expect during the national test at the link in our comments. 👇

DON'T Be a Silly Sausage!... you might want that tender smoky meat. But put the beads down.

It’s Friday. It’s a Total Fire Ban. It’s Catastrophic fire weather.

Somewhere, there is a mate staring lovingly at their offset smoker or weber. They are holding a bag of charcoal. They are thinking, "Low and slow isn't really a fire, is it?"

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️STOP⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

Let’s be crystal clear: Solid Fuel BBQs (Wood, Charcoal, Briquettes) are BANNED today. No exceptions. No "just a quick sear."

If it burns solid fuel, it stays cold. If you light it, we have to come over. And if we have to interrupt our lunch to put out your lunch, we won't be polite about it.

Gas or Electric? Maybe. But there are strict rules you need to follow (like having a hose ready and a clear area).

Solid Fuel? Absolutely not.

Check the rules before you turn a k**b or strike a match: 👉 https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/fire-bans-ratings-and-restrictions/can-i-or-cant-i

Do you know a silly sausage who needs to accept that today is their salad day. 👇
