I’m taking you with me down memory land today. 😉

18 years ago today - 22 August 2008 - The Babes Project started humbly.

There was no organisation yet (that would come later in July 2009) and there was no team, no centre and no program - just me and a belief that our society could do better for women facing pregnancy in incredibly difficult circumstances.

For me, it was personal.

I knew what it was like to experience a “crisis” pregnancy. And I also knew that deciding to have your baby doesn’t suddenly make everything easy.
There is still pregnancy, birth, sleepless nights, relationships to navigate, finances, housing, mental health, and sometimes violence or isolation. And through all of it, there’s a baby whose wellbeing is deeply connected to the wellbeing of their mother.

I believed then, and I still believe now, that if we want better futures for children, we have to do more to support their mothers.

So much has changed at Babes in 18 years. We’ve opened centres, built programs, grown an incredible team and community, and walked alongside more than a thousand families.

But the heart of Babes hasn’t changed. We still want more women supported to feel confident and equipped in their parenting which also means more babies growing up in safe environments where they can thrive.

We’ve built this together - And 18 years later, I’m still asking our community to help us keep going.

Right now, you can help by volunteering with us, purchasing something from the wish list for our new Croydon Centre, or making a financial contribution to help us reach more women. All the links can be found here: https://msha.ke/thebabesproject

Babes has never been built by me alone. Thank you to every person who has been part of these 18 years.
Cheers to what comes next.

Helen xx

There was a time when becoming a mum felt overwhelming. When everything felt uncertain, this Mama found Babes and with it came support, encouragement, and people who walked alongside her through one of the hardest times of her life.

Today, she says being a mum is the best thing she’s ever done.

Watching women grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and discover just how capable they are never gets old here at Babes. Every woman deserves someone in her corner during pregnancy and early motherhood.

This is why The Babes Project exists.

When you support Babes, you’re helping women move from surviving to thriving. And right now every donation is DOUBLED.

Right now, your EOFY donation can go twice as far.

Thanks to a generous supporter, every donation made to our More Lives Changed EOFY Appeal will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000.

That means your donation will have double the impact in helping vulnerable women access the vital support and education they need during pregnancy and early motherhood.

At The Babes Project, we see every day how the right support can change the trajectory of a woman's life. A mum who feels supported becomes more confident which means a baby who has what they need gets a stronger start.

This EOFY, your donation will change more lives.
Donate at https://www.thebabesproject.com.au/lives_changed or via link in bio and help us make every dollar count twice!

We’re currently working on some pretty big projects and can’t wait to share them with you! Here’s another little BTS of capturing stories and images with some graduated mamas ❤️

We always feel like May-June is our busiest time at babes but our July-August-rest of the year is shaping up to be huge!

We’re going to need all the love and good vibes to pull this off!

Can’t wait to share with you all ❤️

It’s pretty powerful when female charity leaders come together to talk about collaboration for the good of women and families in our local Frankston/ Peninsula community.

After all connecting at a Volunteer event 2 weeks ago, today Bec & Helen and the Babes team hosted Suzanne & Diana from Charlotte from and Karina & Leonie from - all coming together to discusses sharing resources, referral pathways and a holistic approach for the people we serve.

And we loved it.
Looking forward to working with these amazing women and their teams in the future!

“Because I’ve never done this before. I’ve never been a mum before.

Because she’s my little girl, I want her to have everything.”

When we asked one of our Croydon mamas why support was so important to her, her answer made us tear up.

Motherhood doesn’t come with a manual.

What moves us the most here at Babes is hearing a new Mama recognise that asking for support isn’t a weakness. It’s one of the greatest gifts she can give her child. This mama wanted the very best for her daughter, and she knew she didn’t have to do it alone.

For this mama, support meant practical education, encouragement, trusted relationships, and a safe place to keep growing in confidence as a parent.

That’s why The Babes Project exists; to ensure vulnerable women have access to the support they need to build a confident and healthy future for themselves and their children.

And this is exactly what you make possible when you give. Every donation helps more women access the support, education, and community that can change the trajectory of motherhood for an entire family.
