It’s pretty powerful when female charity leaders come together to talk about collaboration for the good of women and families in our local Frankston/ Peninsula community.

After all connecting at a Volunteer event 2 weeks ago, today Bec & Helen and the Babes team hosted Suzanne & Diana from Charlotte from and Karina & Leonie from - all coming together to discusses sharing resources, referral pathways and a holistic approach for the people we serve.

And we loved it.
Looking forward to working with these amazing women and their teams in the future!

“Because I’ve never done this before. I’ve never been a mum before.

Because she’s my little girl, I want her to have everything.”

When we asked one of our Croydon mamas why support was so important to her, her answer made us tear up.

Motherhood doesn’t come with a manual.

What moves us the most here at Babes is hearing a new Mama recognise that asking for support isn’t a weakness. It’s one of the greatest gifts she can give her child. This mama wanted the very best for her daughter, and she knew she didn’t have to do it alone.

For this mama, support meant practical education, encouragement, trusted relationships, and a safe place to keep growing in confidence as a parent.

That’s why The Babes Project exists; to ensure vulnerable women have access to the support they need to build a confident and healthy future for themselves and their children.

And this is exactly what you make possible when you give. Every donation helps more women access the support, education, and community that can change the trajectory of motherhood for an entire family.

We’re working on an exciting project so had the first of a series of photoshoots recently.

Which meant calling in our favourite photographer who has been beautifully capturing babes mamas and events since 2017!

We love having someone who is passionate about supporting women capturing powerful images of our mamas - often when they’re feeling pretty vulnerable.

Can’t wait to share more soon.

She was referred to The Babes Project pregnant at just 15 years old during a difficult season of life.

Two years later, she’s raising a thriving little girl, completing an apprenticeship, driving, and building a future she’s proud of.

What she said stayed with us:

“It’s not your age that determines your success. It’s the support you receive.”

This is why The Babes Project exists.
And it’s mamas like this that you’re supporting when you support Babes.

Bookings are now open for our evening birth classes in June/July!

Birth. by The Babes Project is led by our lovely and very experienced childbirth educator and midwife Amy. These classes are kindly brought to you by sponsor and are designed to help you feel informed, supported, and more confident as you prepare for birth and early parenting. (Currently only running at our Frankston centre)

Whether this is your first baby or you’re looking for a more personal experience, these classes create space to ask questions, learn what to expect, and prepare for labour, birth, feeding, recovery, and those early weeks with your baby.

Come and learn in a relaxed environment with other parents preparing for the same season of life.

Well Babes friends… we’re on the move!

For three years, the Aquahub has been home to Babes Croydon a place where women have found so much beautiful support, connection, safety, and community during some of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives. We are so grateful for everything this space has allowed us to build.

But today, Babes has outgrown it.

As the need for support continues to change, so does the demand for our services, programs, and community spaces. While the Aquahub has served us well, it can no longer support the future we know is possible for women and families in our community.

We’ve found the perfect next home for Babes, right here in Croydon/Maroondah, and now we need your help to make this next chapter possible.

A bigger future for Babes means:
- expanding our days and hours of support
- running team training on site
- offering more evening birth classes
- creating space for more community events
- running more educational courses and lifeskills workshops
- more room for storage, admin staff and essential services
- supporting MORE women and babies over many more years!

Over the next five weeks, we must raise $250,000 to secure this exciting future for Babes - supporting both our move and the ongoing work that helps more women, babies, and lives changed.

We’ve already raised over $71K, but we still have a long way to go.

If Babes has ever been on your heart, now is the time to stand with us as we plan a bigger future.

There are so many reasons to love and appreciate volunteers, but one of our favourites is the passion and commitment they bring to the cause they’re part of.

At Babes, our volunteers are honestly the heartbeat of our organisation. They’re not here because they need a paid job, they’re here because they deeply believe women should have access to support and care through pregnancy, birth, and early parenting. They believe in this so much that they want to do something about it and so become part of the bridge covering the support gap for women in the perinatal period.

The commitment of our team is truly sacrificial. They give hours and hours each week. They cover admin and insurance costs, pay for petrol and parking, take time off work, rearrange family commitments for training, and still show up when they’re tired or could be doing something else.

So, during Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to give a huge shout out to all community volunteers, but especially ours - the people who show up every week for the women who need Babes.

Thank you team. You are so valued, and we’re incredibly proud of the work you do to ensure mamas and their babies have what they need to not just survive, but thrive.
