Ahoy everyone! And welcome back to yet another monthly run-down 😊 August was a month for big things, and as such, we have an extra-long post for you, so strap in and enjoy.
First to mention, we worked alongside a group of teachers and parents at Portsea Camp, a wellness weekend for them to enjoy as a reward for all they do for their students, children, and community. It was filled with connecting with fellow supporters who help make the Portsea Camp possible. Thank you for everything you do, and we’re glad we could do something for you to give back for all your work 😊
Second, we attended a Baw Baw business breakfast to not only meet other businesses wanting to grow but also learn about “BANG for Buck marketing”. Thank you to the presenters and peers helping us on our ever-growing journey as we get our programs out there to even more people in need.
Third, we prepared and finalised our move from the storage we’ve had in The Basin for the past 10 years. We want to send a massive thanks to the Salvation Army for providing this generous space for so long, and we will forever be grateful for having that connection for so long. We would also like to thank the many individuals who made this move happen. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Fourth, we ran our follow-up camp for our 2025 Sailing On crew. It was a great time to come together and have a final hurrah for this group before taking their next steps. Having family and friends together to celebrate and listen to the individual experiences of our young people was a pleasure, and we look forward to working with them again or seeing where their next steps lead them.
For the fifth mention, we wanted to highlight the 3-day gathering we were part of from the 14th - 16th, near Maindample, where a group of Outdoor Therapists under the umbrella of Adventure Works Inc. came together to continue our development of the Foundation of Outdoor and Adventure Therapy (FOAT) immersion training course. We are working towards a two-year Master Course.
This trans-disciplinary course provides an online and experiential introduction to the foundations of Outdoor & Adventure Therapy. Designed for counsellors, psychologists, social workers, outdoor leaders, and people with other backgrounds, it offers a progression of knowledge, skills, and opportunities to develop your practice in a supportive environment.
We want to support exceptional and considered outdoor therapy for practitioners across the whole outdoor field, providing better outdoor experiences to our young people. We are consistently adapting and deepening our skills as we work beside the ever-developing young people of today. We deeply appreciate working with Adventure Works Australia and the other outdoor therapists on this professional development.

Finally, for the sixth mention, our main facilitators, John and Robert, came together and held a BOAT Day for Seville primary schools’ male grade 5s and 6s. This journey was to help grow healthy relationships as a boy, teenager, and man, as these youth worked together and under the guidance of our facilitators. Collaborating with Gilwell Park Scout Camp, we were able to experience new things and have fun along the way, thank you Gilwell Park and its fabulous staff!
We are always on the journey to build new connections with young people and their key supporters and will keep you updated along the way 😉
