Lawson Rural Fire Brigade Rural Fire Brigade The Lawson Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade is located in the beautiful World Heretige listed Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia.

The Lawson Rural Fire Brigade is made up of volunteers from all walks of life – men and women from different backgrounds, age groups and professions. Lawson Rural Fire Brigade is a reflection of our local community. The people that make up our Brigade are as different as the society that we protect

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Monday 12 October 2026, for the Greater Sydney area with forecast Extreme fire danger and the Greater Hunter area with forecast High fire danger. Warm and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, increasing the fire danger.

Take action now. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

ADVICE means a fire has started. There is no immediate danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes.

WATCH AND ACT means there is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing and you need to start taking action to protect you and your family.

EMERGENCY WARNING is the highest level of
alert. You may be in danger and need to take action
immediately. Any delay puts your life at risk.

What a fantastic Get Ready Weekend! ☀️🚒

With such gorgeous weather across the Mountains, it was wonderful to see so many community members and visitors out enjoying the day. A huge thank you to our incredible team for giving their time, energy and expertise to help educate and engage with everyone who stopped by.

We had some great conversations about preparedness and community safety, and it was encouraging to see so much interest from both locals and visitors. Days like these remind us how valuable it is to connect with our community in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The warm weather also made it a perfect day for some water play, with the fire truck hoses proving to be a big hit with children and families alike!

Thank you again to our dedicated volunteers for your hard work and enthusiasm. Your commitment to supporting our community is greatly appreciated, and together we helped make Get Ready Weekend a wonderful success.

Come and chat with our volunteers about bush fire plans, ember attacks, and the simple steps you can take now to protect your home and family.

Bush fires can occur quickly and without warning. Before you travel, make sure you have checked the conditions and have a plan in place if things change.
Let people know your movements and if it’s not safe, avoid traveling altogether. Always keep an eye out for emergency vehicles and if you see a fire call triple Zero (000).


The risk of bush fires is returning. After several years
of wet weather, grass and scrub has regrown leading to an increased risk of bushfire in your local area. Ask your local RFS members about your risk and what you can do to prepare at your Get Ready Weekend event 20th September 2026, Cnr Lowden Lane and Staples Crescent, LAWSON

Preparation starts with you. When a bush fire threatens,the decisions you make can save your life.
Firefighters will do everything they can to protect
communities, but they can’t be everywhere at once. There is no guarantee a fire truck will be there when you need it.
That’s why it’s important to have a Bush Fire Survival Plan and know what you’ll do before a fire starts.
Before the bush fire season:
• Discuss your Bush Fire Survival Plan with everyone in your household.
• Prepare your home.
• Know the Bush Fire Alert Levels and when you need to leave.
• Keep key information and important documents on hand.
The more prepared you are, the more options you’ll have when conditions change.

Don’t give embers something to burn. Clear away
