Some of the Bullaburra brigade members are touring the RFS State Operations Centre State at NSW RFS Headquarters today. The Centre is a worldclass facility which allows the RFS and its partners to effectively oversee and coordinate incidents. The staff at the Centre monitor developments, analyse their potential, and provide a variety of specialised resources to Incident Management Teams and firefighters on the ground. Hi Wentworth Falls,
Terry Cameron, one of our firefighters and a former captain of our Brigade, needs our help.
On 20 March, Terry was taken to hospital following a sudden onset of quadriplegia. Within a few days, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the nerves in the legs, arms and hands, causing paralysis.
After more than three months in hospital, Terry’s recovery is progressing well, and his family would like to bring him home to continue his rehabilitation.
As you can imagine, the financial strain is considerable, as the family manages on a single income and Terry’s recovery has no definitive timeline.

On the weekend, one our members went through their Crew Leader Wildfire (CLW) and Crew Leader Supervision (CLS) assessments.

The assessment process involves multiple simulated incidents - which are only possible because of the generosity and efforts of multiple members, brigades, and Group Officers. Big thanks to our great crew, who made this possible and fun! And big thanks to all the brigades and Group Officers who made is possible: Winmalee Rural Fire Brigade; and Megalong Valley RFS Brigade.

Being an RFS member offers huge benefits for yourself and your community, and leadership training is just a part of it.

The Bullaburra brigade was at last weekend’s Kenny Street hazard reduction burn in Mount Victoria. It was great to work alongside other brigades - including Medlow Bath Rural Fire Brigade, NSW RFS - Katoomba/Leura Brigade, Blaxland Rural Fire Brigade, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 361 Leura, and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 495 Wentworth Falls in our sector - to afford greater protection to residents. Excellent planning, optimal conditions, and hard work made it a very successful operation.
