Wednesdays NDIS excursion to Brighton Lakes Golf Club, was a great day out for our participants. Good coffee, good food and great customer service. The sun was out for us that day and we had lots of fun using funny filters for some of our photos. ☕️ 🥗 ☀️ ⛳️

Last Wednesday the NDIS participants enjoyed bingo and prizes day at KCAC. After morning tea, we played fruit bingo and animal bingo. Everybody won a prize and some even won 2 or 3. This was followed by a delicious home cooked lens bed lunch of rice topped with almonds, tabouli, falafel, bread, yogurt and garlic sauce. Thank you to our volunteer, Helen who made her recipe for the group, and our staff member Connie, who assisted her. It was amazing!! 🧆 🥗 🍚 😀

Last week at the Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre, we proudly celebrated Neighbourhood Centre Week alongside special Mother’s Day lunches for all of our senior groups.

Our Italian, Arabic and Chinese seniors came together to enjoy delicious food, laughter, friendship and meaningful connection, while our active exercise seniors also joined in the celebrations and community spirit.

These gatherings are so much more than just a lunch. They provide opportunities for social connection, cultural celebration, wellbeing and inclusion for our seniors. Bringing people together helps reduce isolation, supports mental health, encourages active lifestyles and creates a strong sense of belonging within the community.

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, shared stories and friendships strengthened across all groups. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered and helped make the celebrations so special.

At Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre, we are proud to support and celebrate our diverse senior community every day.

Our “neighbourhood centre's week”communal lunch proved to be successful, particularly when combined with the Mother’s Day celebrations, offering much-needed support to many of our vulnerable citizens in George’s River. We would like to thank the dedicated staff who contributed to making this event memorable for our community. Furthermore, we appreciate the Hon Mark Coure, Member for Oatley, for his visit and backing of our centre. The continued support for community centres is invaluable in these trying times.

This week is Neighbourhood Centre Week, and our various groups have been celebrating with themed activities and special lunches. These gatherings do more than bring people together for fun; they help build friendships, reduce social isolation, strengthen community connections, and create a welcoming space where everyone feels included and valued. Neighbourhood centres play an important role in helping communities thrive by encouraging participation, belonging, and support for people of all abilities.

Yesterday, our NDIS participants enjoyed a vibrant Mexican May Fiesta! 🇲🇽 The room was filled with Mexican music, laughter, and colourful food, including churros, mockaritas, corn chips, salsa, beans, guacamole, tacos, fajitas, and more! 🌮🌯🥑🌽🫘🍸 There was also a piñata filled with lolliLocal Community Services Association that we didn’t quite know how to play 😂

Mikhail serenaded everyone with his singing of Elvis songs 🎤, and we also celebrated a very special milestone birthday for Sam, who turns 60 this week. 🎂💙 We wish Sam many more happy birthdays to come!

Everyone had such a fantastic day — participants and staff alike. 😀💃🪅
