This month, we teamed up with a wonderful group of community members and the hospital/hostel staff to give the garden at the hostel some much needed TLC.
The garden brings so much colour, joy and comfort to the residents and it was lovely to see everyone pitch in to help bring it back to life.
One of the biggest highlights was seeing residents sitting out in the sunshine, watching the work unfold, chatting with volunteers and enjoying the company around them.
It was also so lovely to overhear one community member say to another, “I'll be sure to say g'day to you when I see you down the street next!” While we might be a small town, it doesn't necessarily mean everyone knows one another. That's why we love supporting opportunities like this. Bringing people together over a shared interest creates opportunities for new friendships, familiar faces and those little connections that can make such a difference.
Days like these are a beautiful reminder that connection has no age limit. Bringing generations together, sharing stories, having a chat and simply spending time alongside one another can make such a difference to our sense of belonging and wellbeing.
A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and care to make this happen. It wasn't just about tidying up a garden - it was about creating connection, bringing smiles and reminding our residents that they are such a valued part of our community. 🫶🏼🪴
