🚗💨 Gear up, Hughenden! The Variety Bashers are coming to town! 🎉

The Variety Bash convoy will be travelling through Hughenden this Friday–Saturday, and we’d love to see the town get behind them!

🥓 Saturday morning: The Bashers will be served breakfast by the Hughenden Lions Club before heading off at around 8:00 am.

📍 Best spot to catch the convoy: Head to the top of Stansfield Street, showgrounds side, for a great view as the colourful convoy makes its way through town.

📣 Get out, wave, cheer them on and give the Bashers a big Hughenden welcome as they continue their journey north to Innisfail!
Let’s show them what Hughenden hospitality is all about! 🙌🚙🎉

The countdown is on!

In just a couple of weeks, the 2026 QLD Variety Bash will hit the road, with a convoy of colourful cars travelling from Innisfail to Gladstone via the road less travelled.

But the real journey started months ago.

Behind every Bash car is a team of everyday Queenslanders who have spent countless hours hosting barbecues, selling raffle tickets, organising events and bringing their communities together – all to help children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with disabilities.

At a time when many families are feeling the pressure of rising living costs, our Bashers continue to dig deep. They generously give their time, raise vital funds, and ensure as much money as possible goes directly towards changing children’s lives.

Thanks to them, we’ll be delivering more than $170,000 in life-changing grants to children, schools and communities across Queensland. From inclusive playgrounds and assistive technology to school breakfast programs and essential equipment, every stop reminds us exactly why the Bash matters.

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Variety Bash without a little fun! Keep an eye out for an unforgettable parade of themed cars inspired by Bluey, Ghostbusters, The Simpsons, The Smurfs, Dr. Seuss, Hot Wheels and plenty more.

For more than 40 years, the Variety Bash has shown what’s possible when generous Aussies come together for a common cause.

We can’t wait to share every kilometre, every grant presentation and every unforgettable moment with you. Follow our page for daily updates as we hit the road from 17-27 August! 🚗

🌺 Lest We Forget 🌺

Today, members of the Hughenden Lions Club were proud to take part in the ANZAC Day march, standing alongside our community to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of our veterans.

It was a privilege to march in respect of those who have served, and those who continue to serve our country.

Thank you to the Hughenden RSL and everyone who attended and helped make today such a meaningful commemoration.

💛 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄? 💛

The 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻 has a special fund available to support local families following the loss of a loved one.

Our club has been kindly entrusted with funds from a former club that has since closed its doors. These funds were gifted to us to continue supporting communities, and we are proud to use them to help local families by 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀.

During an incredibly difficult time, we hope this small gesture can ease some of the pressure. The Hughenden Lions Club can assist by providing 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, and where volunteers are available, we may also be able to 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this support, please reach out to our page or speak with one of our members.
