Communication for ISA:
Dear Skaters/Officials/Coaches,
Ice Dance and Solo Ice Dance provide an important competitive pathway for Adult Skaters in Australia. These disciplines offer opportunities for skaters to showcase skating skills, edge quality, musical interpretation, and performance, without the emphasis on jumps required in other figure skating disciplines.
The Australian Adult Figure Skating Committee is seeking feedback regarding the current testing requirements for Adult Solo Ice Dance and Partnered Ice Dance. The Committee recognises that the existing testing pathway, particularly for Adult Solo Ice Dance, may present a barrier to participation for some skaters who are interested in these disciplines.
The purpose of this survey is to gather community feedback on whether the current testing requirements remain appropriate or whether alternative pathways should be considered to better support participation while maintaining the integrity and standards of the sport.
The information collected through this survey will assist the Committee in understanding the views of the skating community and may be used to inform future recommendations or proposals for consideration by the appropriate Ice Skating Australia committees and governance bodies.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views. Your feedback is valued and will contribute to ensuring that the future development of Adult Ice Dance reflects the needs and experiences of the Australian skating community.
NOTE: The survey is due to close on the 24th August 2026 to allow time for the collation of data/responses.
