𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 Timorese United Association Inc.

As TUA Inc. continues to mark 10 years of community, connection and service, we take the opportunity to acknowledge the Hon. Janelle Saffin - Member for Lismore, a longstanding friend of Timor-Leste and someone who also holds a special place in TUA’s history.

Janelle previously served as the Public Officer of Timorese United Association Inc. during our early years, supporting the Association as it established itself in NSW.

We are pleased to see her continuing commitment to strengthening the friendship between Australia and Timor-Leste, including through the developing Sister City partnership between Lismore and Ossu.

As we reflect on TUA’s journey over the past decade, we gratefully acknowledge those who have contributed to and supported our community along the way.

𝗔 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗱
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Vanessa and her dad, Eno, to spend the afternoon with our TUA community.

Vanessa has travelled from Timor-Leste to Sydney with the support of ROMAC Australia & New Zealand (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) to receive specialist medical treatment. She is under the care of eye surgeon Associate Professor Krishna Tumuluri, together with the Ophthalmology and Neurosurgery teams at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

It was wonderful to spend time together and surround Vanessa and Eno with the warmth, friendship and support of our Timorese community during their stay in Sydney.

In a wonderful show of community spirit, $1,200 was presented to support Vanessa and her family, with $600 generously donated by community members, together with $400 from TUA and $200 from Australia NSW East Timor Chinese Community.

A special thank you to Marzieh Brenton, a community volunteer, for coordinating today’s visit, and to everyone who contributed and helped us show our care and solidarity.

We wish Vanessa all the very best with her upcoming surgery and keep her, Eno and their family in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to ROMAC for making Vanessa’s treatment in Australia possible and for supporting her and Eno throughout their time in Sydney.
