SEE Civil and our client, Wattle Run, the developer of Freshwater Village, recognise the significant impact that the ongoing closure of Cairns Road is having on the local community. We understand the frustration this has caused and sincerely thank the community for its patience and understanding.

Due to unforeseen wet weather affecting the construction program and other sequencing matters outside our control, the scheduled reopening of Cairns Road on 31st July 2026 will be delayed.

🏗️ Another month of major progress—take a look at the latest developments.

Freshwater Village - July Update

Construction continues to progress well across the site, with several key milestones recently achieved and works advancing across all precincts.

Recent highlights include the successful installation and connection of the new Brays Road water main, completion of the Woolworths tenancy slabs and foyer works, and the Medical Centre suspended deck.

Current works are focused on internal services within the Woolworths building, civil and in-ground services, colonnade pavements, car park preparation, roofing to the dining building, and utility installations across the site.

Recent wet weather and water main has impacted sections of the roadworks program, particularly pavement and kerb work. To minimise delays, construction activities have been resequenced to maintain progress in other areas, with roadworks to continue as conditions improve.

Thank you to our project team, contractors, and project partners for their continued commitment to delivering the project safely and efficiently.

Freshwater Village Project Update

Despite challenging wet weather conditions throughout May, construction continues to progress strongly on Brays Road and across all areas at Freshwater Village.

Key milestones achieved this month include:

âś” Significant progress with the installation of the new water main on Brays Road
âś” The Woolworths roofing installation is nearing completion
âś” Multiple concrete slab pours and polished concrete works
âś” Continued framing, formwork, and loading dock preparation
âś” Advancement of hydraulic, fire, electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration services
âś” Ongoing civil infrastructure, drainage, and trenching works
Our project teams successfully managed weather-related disruptions through proactive planning and work resequencing, maintaining momentum across multiple work fronts.
Looking ahead, June will focus on completing tenancy slabs and foyer works, progressing internal services, continuing civil infrastructure works, and advancing roofing activities within the dining precinct.

A great effort by all project partners and trades involved as Freshwater Village continues to take shape.

***Brays Road – Emergency Roadworks This Weekend***

The City of Moreton Bay has approved contractors working on the Brays Road upgrade between the Brays Road bridge and Tesch Road to carry out emergency repair works this weekend.

Works will take place from 7:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, 16 May and Sunday, 17 May 2026.

To complete these repairs, traffic control will be in place on the newly constructed section of road. Contraflow traffic arrangements will be manually managed throughout the works to minimise delays and keep traffic queues to a minimum.

The emergency repairs are necessary to allow the installation of an additional layer of asphalt across the remaining eastbound and westbound lanes.

We acknowledge these works may cause inconvenience to motorists and nearby residents. However, due to the deteriorating road surface and the potential risk of injury or property damage, it is necessary that these repairs be carried out immediately.

Emergency Pothole Repairs to Protect Motorist Safety

Emergency pothole repairs were carried out this morning to ensure the safety of all road users. We understand these works caused significant traffic disruptions, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to motorists.

See Civil made every effort to complete the repairs before peak-hour traffic commenced. However, ongoing rain, combined with some motorists travelling through the work zone above the posted speed limit, damaged the temporary road surface and resulted in rapid pothole deterioration.

The potholes developed to a point where the road was considered unsafe, with concerns raised about the potential for vehicle damage and accidents. Safety must always remain the top priority.

Crews worked throughout the night in difficult weather conditions to address the issue. Unfortunately, the supplier of the required bitumen was unavailable until 7:00AM, delaying final repair works.

We kindly ask all motorists to observe posted speed limits and signage when travelling through roadwork areas. Doing so helps protect the road surface and ensures the safety of both workers and road users.

See Civil has worked closely with Council to implement a more durable solution to reduce severe potholing, with these works being completed today. All lanes in both directions are expected to fully reopen by 2:30PM this afternoon.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding.
