Last week CICA held its first "A Conversation with CICA", an open session with no slides and no set agenda. Participants brought the questions, and our Executive Director responded directly.
The discussion ranged widely. It covered how CICA engages with government and whether that advocacy is producing visible change, the uneven state of career education across schools and jurisdictions, and the responsibility to support workers whose roles are shifting under AI. It kept returning to what artificial intelligence means for the profession, including the risk that these tools confirm what a person already believes rather than challenge it. There were practical questions too, about the RPCDP register and webinar recording access.
Attendees provided positive feedback for the CICA International Webinar Series, something we continue to work on and do not take for granted.
What stayed with us was that none of it was planned. The shape of the half hour came from the people who joined. No two sessions will be the same, because each is built by who turns up and what is on their mind.
The next Conversation with CICA is on 17 September 2026. Bring a question about our role, our advocacy, or where the profession is heading.
