🌿 We achieve great things when our community comes together 🌿

The Grafton and District Garden Club Inc. has donated $2,600 towards our fundraising effort to provide patient treatment chairs for the Oncology Department at Grafton Base Hospital.

A heartfelt thank you to the club and Probus for your generosity and willingness to get behind this important cause.

Together, we are making a meaningful difference for patients and their families in our community 🌿

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Adrian Van Ash

Say hello to Adrian!

Adrian has been with since he was the Minister of Scots Church Sydney. At the time they were in the Crypt of St Patrick’s while their church was being rebuilt.

“A St Patrick’s member encouraged me to join Rotary and invited me to the Rotary Club of Darling Harbour. I joined and enjoyed the Fellowship there.

I greatly appreciated learning about Rotary for the Club was involved with sending young people to RYLA and funded safe toilets for women in Indian villages followed by digging safe water wells.

We also had many international visitors and learnt what Rotary was doing around the world.

We made yearly visits back to Grafton and I visited both Clubs and decided to join the Midday Club when we came back to retire in 2010.

With the heavy workload of ministering to a C*D Church and its reconstruction, I could not get involved in the Board. Once I joined the Midday Club, I became President Elect, President and served on the Board for many years.

I was able to go to conferences where you learn more about the wonderful work Rotary is doing around the world.

I am particularly proud of the campaign to which even the WHO would not take on, and Rotary is very near to achieving it.

The Club has helped local people and youth, installed park equipment and donated equipment to Grafton Base Hospital.

Rotary is involved in health research, disaster relief, peace, education and community development, just to name a few. Lots of this work is funded through the , which is the Rotary charity, and offers a way to maximise the benefits of giving.

I feel privileged to belong to such a great organisation and to work with friends to achieve some of its aims.”

We are truly grateful to have Adrian in our club. His presence, humility and generosity enriches us all 💕

Over $1400 raised for Cancer Council NSW 🌼

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Brian Lane

Meet Brian! One of our proud Grafton Midday Rotary founding members - since 1989.

What drew Brian to ?

“We were new to Grafton with no family or friends, but joining Rotary solved that quickly. In fact our children grew to consider my fellow club members as uncles and aunts. I also enjoyed a widened circle of business and state government through our shared membership of Rotary.

Some of my favourite projects are our youth programs - seeing the participants grow into adults … the Youth Exchange Program in particular.

🎗️Our charity auction was a significant fundraiser over the years, as a great promotional vehicle, aiding our membership engagement and retention program - while also being simple good fun.”

Brian’s message to others:
“If you’re new to Grafton and need to quickly build solid reliable networks for work, family and play, join a local .”

Brian has been creating lasting impact in our community for over 35 years. Thank you Brian for helping found and grow our club to what it is today 🙏

Meet Tony, who found friendship and purpose through .

Tony joined Grafton Midday Rotary having recently moved to town. He found it a rewarding way to meet people while making a positive difference in people’s lives.

Tony is passionate about helping young people and contributing to projects like Live’n’Loud and Changing Lanes Changing Lives.

Tony is a familiar face at our BBQ’s, contending the title of BBQ king 👑 He’s looking forward to a social car rally later this year.

Tony believes if you’re looking for friendship and fun, you should give Rotary a go. “You won’t regret it!”
