Today we recognise Australia Day — a time to reflect on our shared history, celebrate the diversity of our communities, and acknowledge the people and stories that shape our nation.

At Meals on Wheels Goulburn, we’re proud to serve a community made up of many cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. Today is an opportunity to come together with respect, kindness, and a shared commitment to looking out for one another.

On this National Day of Mourning for the victims of the Bondi terror attack, Meals on Wheels Goulburn pauses to remember all those whose lives were impacted by this tragic event.

In particular, we honour the life of Marika Pogany, a long-serving Meals on Wheels NSW volunteer, who was among those who tragically lost their lives. While Marika was not a volunteer with our local service, her dedication and commitment reflect the very heart of the Meals on Wheels community across New South Wales.

Marika’s years of selfless service exemplify the quiet strength of volunteers who give their time to support others. Her contribution to her community, and the many lives she touched, will not be forgotten.

Today, we pause to honour her legacy and extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones and all those affected.
