Top 3 Tips for your Baby’s Nutrition 👇

There is a lot to digest when it comes to starting solids and your baby’s nutrition. But we’ve wrapped up our top 3 takeaways:

1. Milk (breastmilk or formula) is baby’s primary source of nutrition until they turn 1

2. Baby’s first foods should include Iron-rich foods like meat, eggs, soaked chia seeds and legumes

3. Keep salt, sugar and processed foods to a minimum; opt for low salt or no salt options.

One of the biggest questions we get is, do you recommend the Cry It Out Method (CIO)?

In short? No.

We fully support you RESPONDING to your baby’s needs as you learn to identify why your baby is crying and how to respond appropriately. This may include picking your baby up, singing, rocking or having a cuddle. Your baby may prefer white noise, being patted, given a feed, or playing, and trying to settle again at a later time. We’d love to help you navigate your baby’s needs for sleeping support.

How do you know when your baby is ready for sleep? 👶💤
Adults and babies have different sleep needs, are individual and change as your baby grows. Babies will show signs of getting tired and when they are getting ready for sleep.

Tired signs are another way of talking about non-verbal cues. Like all cues, they can be missed and will become easier to see with practice.

Adults and babies feel tired and become drowsy before going to sleep.
When trying to decide if your baby is getting tired, you might ask yourself:

👉Is my baby drowsy?
👉Do they have glazed eyes or heavy eyelids?
👉Are they still, quiet or not very alert?

Have I noticed non-verbal cues such as:
• Yawning
• Dull eyes
• Sucking or putting hands to mouth
• Fussiness or restlessness
• Rubbing eyes, face or ears
• Becoming jerky with their body/limbs and clumsy

💡Take into account your baby’s age, how long it has been since their last feed, nappy change and sleep, and remember that every baby sleeps, feeds and socialises differently.
