Meet the Southern Greater Glider. The largest of Australia’s gliding mammals, affectionately known as the “teddy bear of the trees.”
With their fluffy ears, wide eyes, and incredible ability to glide up to 100 metres between treetops, these silent nighttime forest dwellers play an important role in keeping our eucalyptus forests healthy.
But habitat loss, bushfires, and climate change have caused their populations to decline dramatically in recent decades.
FAME is partnering with the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative to drive long-term conservation efforts in the Wombeyan region of NSW to help protect endangered Southern Greater Gliders through:
• habitat restoration,
• glideway connectivity,
• nest boxes and
• ecological monitoring.
This project is helping restore vital forest habitat so these remarkable animals can continue to thrive in the wild for generations to come.
This June, your vote in the My Giving Circle grant round will help support this vital conservation work and give Southern Greater Gliders a better chance of survival.
