Kanangra-Boyd to Wyangala Link

Kanangra-Boyd to Wyangala Link The Kanangra-Boyd to Wyangala Link (K2W) is a natural lansdcape corridor in south-east NSW.

The K2W link is a natural landscape corridor following the line of the Abercrombie River and formed by the Casuarinas lining its banks, the Eucalypt forests on the surrounding hills, and the grassy woodlands that connect them. Its location, natural values and cultural significance make it an integral part of the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative, to maintain and restore the connectivity of natural h

abitats along the ranges of the eastern edge of the Grampians in Victoria, through NSW and the ACT to Tropical Queensland.

Meet the Southern Greater Glider. The largest of Australia’s gliding mammals, affectionately known as the “teddy bear of the trees.”

With their fluffy ears, wide eyes, and incredible ability to glide up to 100 metres between treetops, these silent nighttime forest dwellers play an important role in keeping our eucalyptus forests healthy.

But habitat loss, bushfires, and climate change have caused their populations to decline dramatically in recent decades.

FAME is partnering with the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative to drive long-term conservation efforts in the Wombeyan region of NSW to help protect endangered Southern Greater Gliders through:
• habitat restoration,
• glideway connectivity,
• nest boxes and
• ecological monitoring.

This project is helping restore vital forest habitat so these remarkable animals can continue to thrive in the wild for generations to come.

This June, your vote in the My Giving Circle grant round will help support this vital conservation work and give Southern Greater Gliders a better chance of survival.
Vote for FAME to share in a $95,000 grant:

Local landholders, community leaders, and international volunteers came together this week at the Taralga Hotel for dinner and an inspiring glider talk by renowned ecologist Dr. Anne Kerle. From tiny feather-tail gliders to the greater glider, we explored what these incredible species need to survive—and how projects like “Creating Glideways at Wombeyan” are helping protect them. This was followed by Dr. Anne Kerle and Mike Fleming leading a hands-on spotlighting experience—a magical chance to encounter southern greater gliders in their natural habitat, a truly unforgettable highlight. A big thank you to everyone who attended, including K2W Chair Brian Faulkner, Upper Lachlan Landcare International Volunteers for Peace and our visiting volunteers. This project is proudly supported by The Great Eastern Ranges initiative Foundation for Australia's Most Endangered Species Ltd FAME

Coming up on 15th April at Wattamondara with Cowra's own Jayden Gunn. Should be a really interesting event with Central Tablelands Local Land Services.

Absolutely stunning ✨

Greater Gliders are Australia’s largest gliding mammal. They’re not just adorable, but also key indicators of forest health.

Moments like this just remind us how precious they are and why protecting them matters. 🩷
