Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club

Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club Goolwa SLSC is one of SAโ€™s leading surf lifesaving clubs. We strive to keep our community safe. From there you can gain more qualifications.

The Goolwa Surf Lifesaving Club provides life saving services, education programs and training at Goolwa Beach. We aim to be a leading surf life saving club adding value to the community, dedicated to developing its services and our members. Patrols are provided on weekends and public holidays - mid October to the end of March. Conditions can be tricky, so please swim in-between the red and yello

w flags when they are flying. All you need to patrol is a First Aid Certificate and be a minimum of 13 years old. You don't even need to get wet to save a life. Our members behind the scenes that help out behind the bar, cook BBQ's, fundraise or do the administration tasks, are just as vital as our front line services. We provide the opportunities for training, to gain experience and develop new skills. For more information or to find out how to get involved please contact: [email protected]

Have a young one that loves the beach? Our nipper program (est. 2015) start at 5 years and our youth at 13 years - no experience required. Please contact: [email protected] for more information. ๐Ÿ† 2025/26 Season Award Winners ๐Ÿ†

Congratulations to Layla Woods, recipient of the prestigious Club Person of the Year Award! ๐Ÿ‘

Awarded by the President, Club Person of the Year recognises a member who demonstrates outstanding commitment to Goolwa SLSC and embodies everything our club stands for. This season, Layla has done exactly that.

Layla is a familiar smiling face around the club and someone who is always willing to step up and help wherever needed. Her contribution spans every aspect of club life, including patrols, social events, fundraising, education, member development, powercraft operations, emergency response, and rescue call-outs. No matter the task, Layla approaches it with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine desire to support others.

She has proudly represented Goolwa SLSC at a state level through the Surf Life Saving South Australia Women in Powercraft Program as a support driver, has served as an RWC Operator, and is currently working towards her Trainer qualification to further support the development of our members. Layla is constantly seeking opportunities to learn, improve, and become the best version of herself - qualities that inspire those around her.

Beyond her impressive achievements, it is Layla's character that truly makes her stand out. She is someone who takes a genuine interest in others, is always up for a chat, and creates a welcoming environment for members of all ages. She brings laughter to the clubrooms, calmness during critical incidents, and confidence when responding to emergencies.

Whether supporting a member, leading by example, or responding when the pressure is on, Layla consistently demonstrates the values of Surf Life Saving and the spirit of Goolwa SLSC.

Thank you, Layla, for everything you contribute to our club, our members, and our community. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we are incredibly proud to have you as part of the Goolwa SLSC family. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ† 2025/26 Season Award Winners ๐Ÿ†

Congratulations to Leah Breen, recipient of the Club Services Award! ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ

This award recognises Leah's outstanding contribution to Goolwa SLSC and her unwavering commitment to the development of our Nipper and Youth Programs.

As Leah concludes her final season as Youth Coordinator and passes the baton to the next generation of leaders, we want to acknowledge the incredible impact she has had over the past three years as a leader (and many more as an Age Manager). Through her dedication, passion, and countless volunteer hours, Leah has helped shape the experience of many young members, building their water confidence, surf skills, and pathways into surf sports and lifesaving.

While much of the focus is often on what happens on the beach, Leah's contribution behind the scenes has been equally significant. The administration, planning, communication, and logistics required to successfully run youth programs often go unnoticed, yet Leah has consistently delivered these responsibilities with professionalism and care.

Her commitment to our young members has extended well beyond her own family's involvement. Leah has remained a strong advocate for our Nipper Program through her role on the Board of Management, continuing to champion opportunities for youth development and ensuring the future of our club remains strong.

Beyond the Nipper and Youth Programs, Leah has generously supported our patrol operations, fundraising initiatives, and social activities, always willing to contribute wherever help was needed.

Leah's dedication, leadership, and service have left a lasting legacy at Goolwa SLSC, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed to our club and community.

Thank you Leah, for your years of commitment, passion, and hard work. Your impact will be felt for many seasons to come. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Colin is the definition of a club volunteer, always willing to lend a hand wherever and whenever it is needed. Throughout the season, he has made an enormous contribution behind the scenes, helping to ensure the club continues to thrive both on and off the beach.

What truly sets Colin apart is his positive attitude, friendly smile, and unwavering willingness to help in whatever capacity is required. Whether it's a planned event, a last-minute task, or simply helping someone out, Colin is always there, quietly getting the job done and making a difference.

Volunteers like Colin are the backbone of our club, and his dedication, generosity, and community spirit do not go unnoticed.
