On Sunday we enjoyed our August Rally and the celebrated the Horses Birthday.
Our riders were extremely lucky to have jumping with Edwina Price, flat work and riding equitation with Amanda Shrive and obstacles and working equitation with Jessica Mulraney.

We were all very grateful for the beautiful weather and enjoyed the informative talk at lunch time from the (our) Australian Mounted Games team manger Edwina Price about her recent time at Kentucky with the Australian Mounted games team, whom came home with the Gold!! 🇦🇺 🥇

We then all came together to participate in some games with two teams. The sportsmanship and cheering certainly was entertaining watching the riders go neck to neck in bending, the stockmans race and the flag race. Was a great note to finish our rally on with lots of happy kids and happy horses.

Most of all happy birthday to our beautiful horses and ponies, we thankyou for filling our lives with fun, laughter and we love you all very much.

Safety shouldn't come down to what a family can afford.

“We understand that cost of living means wallets are tightened, even for horse people. Although families do their very best to keep their children active in their chosen sport, some tough decisions still have to be made.

Our own staff, at their own pony clubs, have witnessed this firsthand, especially when it comes to updating equipment. At Ranvet, we feel that safety should not be compromised, nor should the cost of the correct equipment discourage or exclude riders from participation.

Body protectors can be an expensive investment, especially for parents with young, growing children. While they are of course not a full-time necessity, they are a requirement for participation in any cross-country related activity at Pony Club.

We have experienced firsthand at our own clubs that children have missed out on cross-country participation because of a lack of equipment. Whether it's the rider who loves eventing but hasn't been able to upgrade their gear, the rider who has left their vest at home, or the rider who simply wants to try cross country for the first time, they are equally disadvantaged.

Especially given that cross country is part of an Olympic sport, we feel that where possible it is the responsibility of the whole equine industry to help foster the development of our future Olympians, as Pony Club has done for years.”

APC July Rally 2026

13 riders enjoyed the magnificent weather conditions on Sunday when we gathered for our July rally.

Riders were treated to lessons with Man From Snowy River Finalist, Ben Belcher, dressage extraordinare Angela Donaldson, and our local legend Jess Mulraney.

Ben had the riders practicing side steps, turns on the forequarter, turns on the hindquarter and backing up. Once they had mastered these skills in the open they had to do it with precision over and between poles.

Angela worked individually with riders to make sure they had enough impulsion, bend and flexion. She helped riders with their positions and develop effective aides.

Jess took the riders for poles lessons, where riders encourage the horses to navigate the poles themselves.

A huge thank you to our three instructors for the day.

Meanwhile, two Apsley Pony Club members, Daisy Laycock and Esther Coxon, were chosen to represent Australia in an International Virtual Dressage Competition.

Round 1 (of 2), has just finished, and Daisy finished a super impressive 2nd place on her horse Danny. Given that Daisy and Danny have only been a partnership for about 6 months, this is a particularly good achievement.

The Australian team (comprised of Daisy, Esther and two other riders from other states), finished a commendable 4th place over all. They competed against teams from the UK, USA, NZ, Zambia, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Canada, and other countries.

A great effort girls. We can't wait to see how you go in round 2!!

Meanwhile, our super coach Edwina Price, was selected to be team manager the Pony Club Australia Games Team. She was missing from our rally on Sunday as she prepares with her team to fly to Kentucky compete in an international competition.

Big two day at Heywood for the C certificate training assessment and coaches day!
Mitch and Esther enjoyed lots of wonderful instruction on Bentley and Bailey.
Maddi was assessed for her C certificate 👏👏.
Elise represented us wonderfully at the coaches training and was assessed for her Preliminary Coaches certification. 👏👏

Thank you riders and volunteers for your taking the time to prepare and attend to attain these qualifications.

Several of our Apsley Pony Club riders headed to the Edenhope Winter Series Showjumping over the weekend, hosted by the Edenhope Adult Riding Club, and made the most of a great two days of riding.

The grounds looked outstanding, with the arenas presented in excellent condition for riders and horses. With winter temperatures making their presence felt, the fires kept everyone warm and added to the welcoming atmosphere, while many competitors and supporters enjoyed making use of the new clubroom facilities throughout the weekend.

Saturday offered plenty of opportunities for training, with riders able to complete up to three rounds over the showjumping course at heights ranging from 30cm to 100cm, as well as take advantage of the cross-country course being open for schooling throughout the day.

Sunday's Winter Series competition attracted strong numbers across the main arena classes, while the Encouragement Ring was also extremely popular. Catering for beginner and green horses, the ring provided a fun and supportive introduction to showjumping, with riders able to tackle poles on the ground, 20cm and 30cm heights in a safe and welcoming environment.

Well done to all our members who represented the club over the weekend. It was great to see so many riders out enjoying their horses, building confidence, challenging themselves and supporting one another.

A big thank you to the Edenhope Adult Riding Club and all the volunteers who helped make the weekend such a success.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our next rally on Sunday, July 5.
