The Adopt-A-Town Program will be the main program implemented and managed by the organisation. It will largely address the first two of the organisation's goals, that is, to encourage business and government investment and involvement in rural and regional Victoria as well promote environmental and economic sustainability within rural and regional communities. To achieve this, the program will inv
olve having one business “adopt” one of the individual participating communities. Each individual community must give their adopter a well-defined and long-term goal and it is the responsibility of the adopter to assist the community in achieving this goal. In collaboration with the community, the adopter must draw up a detailed plan that aims to address the underlying issues and objectives of the community’s goal, and outline the support mechanisms that the business will put in place to bring about the realisation of this goal. Their assistance must involve both financial support and an actual involvement and presence within the community during the implementation of their plan.
