We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Dolly Parton, who died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee, aged 80. Dolly’s extraordinary life touched generations through her music, her warmth and humour, and her unwavering commitment to helping others. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, her belief that every child deserves the chance to grow up surrounded by books has reached millions of children around the world. In lieu of flowers, Dolly’s family has asked that donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. There are two ways your community can donate: 1. Use your community’s unique donation link If your community has its own Imagination Library donation link, please share this directly. 2. Use the national donation page Supporters can visit the United Way Australia donation page and select the option to specify which community they would like their donation to support. They can then enter their own community name in the comment field. Alexandra Irving, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Australia, United Way Australia

Could you help guide the future of Dungog Shire Community Centre? 💜

We’re looking for new people to join our Management Committee.

The Committee guides the Centre’s strategic direction and provides governance oversight. Members attend regular meetings and contribute to decisions that help DSCC remain responsive to the community we serve.

You might bring professional experience or a strong understanding of life in Dungog Shire. People from different backgrounds and life experiences are encouraged to enquire.

If you’re curious about what’s involved, email Xavier at [email protected] or call 02 4992 1133 for a no-pressure chat.

Curiosity is enough to start the conversation.

Know someone who would be a thoughtful voice around the table? Please send this their way. 💚

The Welcome Experience is a free NSW Government service supporting essential workers (and their families) who are considering applying for or have accepted a job in regional NSW. It has recently expanded to include Dungog Shire Council.

The community benefits from having The Welcome Experience because it helps Dungog attract and retain the people it needs to keep essential local services running. That means teachers staying in schools, health and aged care positions being filled, disability services having staff, childcare services being able to operate, and families putting down roots rather than leaving after a short placement.

There’s also a direct economic benefit. New workers and their families need housing, buy locally, use childcare, join sporting clubs, eat at local venues, use trades and services and participate in community life.

Which is why I believe this co-planning workshop matters. We're asking, 'What can we collectively do to make Dungog a place where essential workers and their families want to stay?”

Who’s coming with you?

Run Dungog is better with your crew.

Tag the friend who said they’d run with you, the one bringing the dog, the one signing up for the 40km “for fun,” or the one who is definitely coming for the coffee and food.

Early Bird pricing ends tomorrow and so do tshirt sales, July 26, or sooner if the first 200 entries are gone.

❤️ What a wonderful day! Here’s a few photos from today.

Today we welcomed around 70 members of our community to the James Theatre for our Christmas in July celebration, and what a fantastic afternoon it was!

It was so special to see everyone come together to share a delicious meal, enjoy great conversation, have a few laughs, and celebrate the connections that make our community so special. Seeing the theatre filled with smiling faces made all the planning and hard work completely worthwhile.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff and volunteers, whose dedication behind the scenes made today possible. From planning and decorating to cooking and serving meals, selling raffle tickets and packing up, your generosity and teamwork were amazing- we couldn’t do it without you!

We’re also incredibly grateful to all of the local businesses who generously donated prizes for our raffle. Your support helped make the day even more memorable, and we truly appreciate your investment in our community.

Finally, thank you to everyone who came along. Your enthusiasm, stories, laughter and company are what made today such a success. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did.

Here’s to more opportunities to bring people together. 💙🎄
