This National Volunteer Week, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who gives their time, energy, care and skills to Dungog Shire Community Centre.

Our volunteers help keep the heart of the Centre beating. From practical support and fundraising to community events, programs, behind-the-scenes jobs and everyday acts of kindness, their contribution makes a real difference across our Shire.

So much of what we do is made possible because people choose to show up for their community.

To all our volunteers: thank you. We see the work you do, we value you deeply, and we are so grateful to have you as part of DSCC.

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is “Your Year to Volunteer”, recognising the vital role volunteers play across Australia.

❄️ The Mutual Bank Winter Appeal ❄️

This winter, our branches and Head Office are coming together to support seven local charities, helping ease the pressure many face during the colder months. To do this, we need your help.

Throughout May and June, we’re collecting donations at each branch to support those who may need an extra helping hand this winter.

We’re asking for donations of long‑life food, personal hygiene items and other winter essentials, which are especially needed at this time of year.

Our branches are proudly supporting the following charities:
Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Services
Maitland Region Community Support
Dungog Shire Community Centre
Great Lakes Womens Shelter
Carrie's Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Services Inc.
Soul Hub Newcastle
Our Circle Maitland - OCM

We’re proud to share that Dungog Shire Community Centre has been named a Finalist in the 2026 Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards (Not-for-Profit).

For a small rural community centre, that’s no small thing.

This recognition reflects the quiet, consistent work happening every day, supporting families through tough times, helping people navigate complex systems and access essential services, and creating safe spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and connected.

We don’t have endless resources, but we do have a team that shows up, a community that trusts us, and a commitment to doing work that actually matters.

To our staff, volunteers, management committee, partners, and community, this is yours as much as it is ours.

We’re proud to be among the organisations in this category. And we’re just getting started.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Chris and Julie for generously donating this beautiful blanket to our Nourish program! Its large size provides plenty of space for the kids to sit on, and the adorable animal print is simply delightful.

Thank you so much for your time, energy, and generosity! 😍
