🐾 VOLUNTEER NEEDED – HELP US SAVE LIVES! ❤️

We’re looking for a kind, reliable volunteer to join our small team and help with the behind-the-scenes work that makes a HUGE difference to animals in the pound.

The role would involve:
🐱 Creating and sharing social media adoption posts
💬 Responding to Facebook adoption enquiries
🏡 Coordinating adoptions and helping animals find loving homes
🩺 Making veterinary appointments and coordinating bookings

This role genuinely saves lives. Every post shared, enquiry answered and adoption coordinated helps get animals out of the pound and into loving homes before their time runs out❤️

We’re a small team doing our best to help as many animals as possible, but without another volunteer, we simply can’t keep up with the workload. There are so many beautiful animals who deserve a chance, and we need help to give them one🐾

You don’t need to be a superhero - just someone who cares about animal welfare, is organised, communicates well and can spare some time to make a real difference.

🙏 Could you be the person who helps save a life?

If you’re interested in volunteering or would like to know more, please send us a private message. Even sharing this post could help us find the right person!

❤️ Together, we can help more animals make it out of the pound and into the loving homes they deserve🐾

🌰 DIRECT ADOPTION - CHESTER 🌰

Name - Chester
Age - 3 years approx
S*x - Male
Breed - Domestic Medium Hair
Colour - Brown Tabby

🐈 Through no fault of his own, Chester has found himself at the pound. Scared and unsure at first, he’s slowly learnt to trust thanks to the patience and kindness of pound staff.

He’s made a friend, found his confidence and shown us that sometimes, all it takes is a little love to help a heart feel safe again 🧡

Now Chester deserves a forever home where he’ll never have to wonder if he’s wanted!

📸 Witness for yourself just how sweet Chester is by viewing the video in the comment section below! 👇🏼

🚫This is NOT a DACS animal. This cat is pound property. We are simply offering a Direct Adopt Option as shelters/rescues are quite full and unable to assist.

❌Being a pound animal a meet and greet is not possible prior to direct adoption.

Edit - Adopted!! 👏🏼

🧡 DIRECT ADOPTION – CRUMPET 🧡

🗓️ Adoption needed by 27th of October

Meet Crumpet, a gorgeous 2-year-old ginger boy who has sadly found himself at the pound through absolutely no fault of his own💔

Through no choice of his own, the life he knew has changed, and now this sweet boy is waiting for someone to give him a second chance.

Crumpet is an affectionate boy who enjoys a pat and human attention. Despite finding himself in an unfamiliar and stressful environment, he is still showing trust and accepting affection from the people around him🥺🧡

Please take a moment to watch the video in the comments. It says so much about Crumpet’s beautiful nature. Even though he’s ended up in the pound, he is still willing to trust, still accepting a gentle pat, and still hoping for kindness. He deserves so much more than a pound kennel.

🏡 Crumpet’s ideal home:
🐾 A loving home where he can settle in and feel safe.
🐾 A home without other cats, as he hasn’t got along with the cats he was housed with at the pound.
🐾 His compatibility with dogs and children is untested, so this would need to be carefully assessed.

Crumpet didn’t ask for his circumstances to change, but someone out there could change the rest of his life. He deserves a warm bed, a family to call his own, and the security of knowing he isn’t going to be left behind again.

Please, if you have room in your heart and home for this beautiful ginger boy, consider giving Crumpet the fresh start he deserves. And if you can’t adopt, sharing his post could help him find his person. 🧡

📩 Please contact our page directly for adoption enquiries.

🚫This is NOT a DACS animal. This cat is pound property. We are simply offering a Direct Adopt Option as shelters/rescues are quite full and unable to assist.

❌Being a pound animal a meet and greet is not possible prior to direct adoption.

🐾 Our Direct Adoption Fee of $150 includes desexing, vaccination, a microchip and worming! (Reduced fee due to Crumpet being desexed)

💌If you are interested please message the page no later than CON Tuesday the 27th October.

A beautiful update message from Zuzu’s adopter! Zuzu was born at the pound when his beautiful mother ended up there.

🎉🎂🥳🎈🎁🎈🥳🎂🎉

“Zuzu turns 1 today, and has turned into one big boy – 5.9kg last we checked! He still has mad zu-zu-zoomies, but has shown himself to be ever loving, loyal, determined and brave. Nothing stands in his way and he continues to surprise us every day. He is known by our neighbours as a chatty chap who loves attention with a specific fondness for dogs. (The dogs are not too sure what to make of such a confident creature running up towards them, but Zuzu only has the utmost adoration for them). His desire to be part of everything has turned him into our little shadow, always present and ready to join in, and the growth over the past 11 months has been enormous. He recognises many words, is always up for an adventure and is a quick learner. He entertains and annoys his two sisters in equal measure, and does so with so much love.
More than anything though, Zuzu is loved and we can no longer remember life without him. Happy Birthday, big boy - here’s to many more.”

WHO ARE WE? WHY DO WE EXIST?

🧠 This will make you think…

🌊🐱🐶 SAVING THE ANIMALS IN THE RIVER 🐾🛟❤️

Imagine you’re walking beside a river 🌊 and you see a little kitten 🐱 floating past.

You jump in 🏊‍♀️ and save it 🛟❤️

Then another kitten comes floating past🐱🌊

You save that one too 🛟

Then another🐱

And another…

Then you see puppies 🐶🐾 and dogs 🐕‍🦺 floating past too.

Soon you’re exhausted, desperately trying to save as many animals as you can 🛟🐱🐶❤️, while more and more continue appearing in the water faster than you can pull them out.

You keep reaching into the river 🌊🫴🐾

You keep rescuing.

You keep saving.

You keep trying to get every cat and dog safely to shore 🐱🐶🏡❤️

But eventually, you stop and think:

“Why are all these animals ending up in the river?” 🤔🌊

So instead of staying in the water trying to save one animal at a time, you run upstream. 🏃‍♀️🌊⬆️

You follow the river to find the source.

And when you get there, you discover someone is throwing the kittens, puppies, cats and dogs into the river🐱🐶🌊💔

So you stop that person.

✋🛑

Now you’re no longer just saving the animals who have already fallen into the water.

You’re stopping the animals from being thrown into the river in the first place🐾🛑🌊❤️

✂️🐾 THAT IS WHAT DESEXING IS DOING.

Desexing is going upstream 🌊⬆️

It is prevention ✂️🐱🐶❤️

It is stopping unwanted litters before they are born.

It is preventing the next generation of kittens and puppies from entering an already overwhelmed system.

It is turning off the tap🚰🛑

❤️ That is what DACS is trying to do.

Instead of constantly asking:

“How do we save this animal?” 🛟🐾

We also need to ask:

“How do we stop another animal from ever needing to be saved?” ❤️🌱

That is why DACS was created.

Our goal isn’t to replace rescue 🐾❤️

It is to reduce the need for rescue‼️

We know firsthand what happens when the tap is left running🚰💦

Many of our members previously spent years with Top End Rehoming Group, helping rescue and rehome thousands of NT cats and dogs🐱🐶❤️

We know what it feels like to see animal after animal needing help.

We know what it feels like to save 10… only to have 20 more waiting at the front door🐾🚪

We know the exhaustion.

We know the heartbreak.

And we know that no matter how many animals we rescued, there were always more coming. 💔🐱🐶

So we realised we could spend the rest of our lives standing in the river, desperately trying to save animals one by one… 🌊🛟🐾

or we could start working upstream🌊⬆️🌱

Please consider donating to help us stop more animals entering the system!

Thank you 🙏🏼
