That’s a wrap on Engineering Night! 🧱🎓

What a night! 🙌

From racing against the clock in our LEGO Build Challenge 🧱 to hearing real career stories from recent graduates 🎓 and making new connections across the engineering community 🤝 — Engineering Night was exactly what we hoped it would be.

A massive thank you to EA Student Ambassadors NT, everyone from the CDU Engineering Student Society, our guest speakers, volunteers, and of course every student who showed up and got involved! ❤️

Plenty of LEGO was built, structures were tested, conversations were started, pizza was eaten 🍕 — and hopefully a few new connections were made along the way.

Thanks for making the night such a great one. See you at the next ESS event! 👀

EA Student Ambassadors NT and the CDU Engineering Student Society are running it, and it goes
like this.

🧱 LEGO Build Challenge — teams, a clock, an award for the winning build. Zero experience needed.
It’s LEGO, not a lab.

🤝 Industry Connection — practising engineers in the room, and you get to talk to them properly .

🎓 Hear from Grads — three recent graduates, one from each stream, on how they went from degree
to employed.

🍕 Then food. Stay and use it.

Protecting ageing infrastructure for a more sustainable future 🔧🌱

Our recent ESS corrosion event featured Dr Margarita Vargas, Engineering Services Manager at Anti Corrosion Technology, presenting on “Protecting Ageing Infrastructure: Sustainable Corrosion Protection.”

The session explored why corrosion protection matters: protecting people and the environment, keeping critical assets reliable, and extending infrastructure service life. It also highlighted how early detection of defects, effective maintenance, and informed engineering decisions can help preserve existing assets and reduce waste.

For our engineering students, this was a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with the practical challenges of maintaining the infrastructure our communities depend on.

We swapped equations for web-shooters this Friday! 🕸️ Huge thanks to everyone who joined the CDU Engineering Student Society for our Movie Night Spiderman - Brand New Day. 🍿🎬

After a long week of lectures, labs, and assignments, it was awesome to kick back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the movie together.
