What a weekend of adventure for our Scouts! 🏕️ From river paddling to Halloween thrills, camp was packed with fun!

🛶 River adventures: Paddling on moving water, searching for pipis along the riverbanks and catching fish back at camp!

🔥 Camp cooking: Putting outdoor cooking skills to the test with delicious treats made in mud ovens.

🎃 Halloween thrills: Braving a spooky trick-or-treat navigation trail, with scare actors keeping everyone on their toes!

🛶 What a great afternoon on the water! ☀️

The clouds cleared for our Cubs at Karingal today and they mastered canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.

There were plenty of smiles, lots of fun, some cheeky splashing, and plenty of opportunities to try something new.

A big thank you to the Redlands Specialist Activity Team for making it such an enjoyable and smooth experience for our youth 🧡

Science and leadership in action!🔬✈️

Our Cubs took the lead this week, sharing their skills, knowledge and creativity with the group!

🧪 One Cub guided everyone through a slime-making science experiment, explaining how the ingredients worked together to create stretchy, squishy slime. This hands-on activity was part of their STEM Special Interest Area (SIA) and it was a fun, messy hit!

✈️ Another Cub stepped up to teach everyone how to make paper planes. Once the folding was done, it was time to put their creations to the test and see whose plane could fly the furthest!

We love seeing our Cubs build confidence, share their passions and learn from each other. Who knows what they'll teach us next? 💚💛

Our Joeys got hands-on with a fun and colourful activity at the den tonight… ice dyeing! ❄🌈

They explored how ice and fabric dye can work together to create unique patterns and beautiful bursts of colour. Each creation is a little bit different, making it the perfect activity for curious minds and creative hands.

🤔 Here are some cool ice dyeing facts!

🧊 Ice does the work! As the ice melts, it carries the dye across the fabric, helping to create beautiful, unpredictable patterns.

🌈 No two pieces are the same! The way the ice melts and the colours spread means every design is completely unique.

🎨 Science meets art! Ice dyeing is a great way to explore how water moves, how colours mix and how different dyes react with fabric.

✨ A little mystery makes it magical! You often don't see the final result until the ice has melted and the fabric has been rinsed.

Our Joeys had a fantastic time experimenting with colours, getting creative (and messy) and discovering that sometimes the best results come from letting nature do its thing!

Our Cubs and Joeys had a fantastic time last night, taking on a slacklining adventure led by Rikki from the Redlands Specialist Activity Centre, and the ever-encouraging, Biloela.

The kids tried a range of activities designed to challenge their balance, build confidence and develop perseverance. There were plenty of wobbles, lots of concentration and some great moments of determination 💪

And to top off a wonderful evening outdoors, we were lucky enough to spot a beautiful koala! 🐨 What a special way to finish the night.

A huge thank you to Rikki and Biloela for sharing their skills and helping our young people try something new, challenge themselves and have fun along the way.

⚜️ Celebrating a special Scouting milestone ⚜️

Last night, we came together to celebrate a very special achievement – Crocodile’s Wood Badge Ceremony! 🐊

The Wood Badge is the highest level of adult leader training in Scouting, making it a significant accomplishment and a proud milestone in any leader’s Scouting journey.

More than just completing a course, earning the Wood Badge reflects a commitment to developing the skills that make great leaders. From leadership, communication and teamwork to mentoring and planning, these skills help our leaders create safe, engaging and memorable experiences for our young people. ⚜️

Crocodile has also made a lasting contribution to our group by recently restoring our flagpole – a meaningful project that will benefit our Den and young people for years to come.

Alongside youth members from all of our sections, we were delighted to share in this special occasion with our Shailer Park Leaders, Brumby, Dingo, Magpie and Tui, as well as our District Commissioner, Eagle, and District Joey Leader, Buneen.

👏 Congratulations, Crocodile! Your dedication to Scouting, our group and the young people we support is something to be incredibly proud of. Thank you for all that you do and for the lasting difference you make in our Scouting community.

🍃 We kicked off Term 4 last night with an evening full of adventure, learning and a little bit of wildlife magic! ✨

🥾 Scouts headed out on hike to the quarry at Daisy Hill, where they learnt some important outdoor skills including camp stove safety and water purification... plenty of practical knowledge to put to use on future adventures!

🤕 Cubs stayed closer to home and learnt how to build a stretcher, before putting their creation to the test along the forest path behind the den. And just to make the night extra special, they were lucky enough to spot an echidna along the way! 🦔

We’re so proud to see one of our very own Joeys, Eloise, recognised in the latest MyCity Logan for achieving her Joey Scout Challenge Award (Joey Peak Award), the highest award a Joey Scout can achieve 👏

This award was a real team effort, with her fellow Joeys encouraging her, supporting her and celebrating her every step along the way.

💫 What an incredible achievement! 💫

A huge congratulations to Lucas and Yasmine, who have taken on an amazing Scouting challenge – planning and completing their very own 3-day, 26km hike through the Sunshine Coast Hinterland! 👏

This wasn’t just a bushwalk. They planned their route, packed and carried all of their own food, water, cooking equipment and sleeping gear, set up camp each night, cooked their own meals and kept themselves moving across 26km of beautiful hinterland tracks. They showed fantastic planning, preparation, resilience, teamwork and independence along the way. ⛺ 🔥🍳 🧭🌳

A special thank you to fellow Shailer Park Scout Tristan, as well as Holly, Abbey and Kaylee from the Browns Plains Scout Group and Underwood Scout Den, who joined Lucas and Yasi on the hike!

A huge thank you to our amazing leaders and supporters who helped make this adventure possible. Dingo and Yasir completed the hike behind the youth, and Rook kept up in a 4WD, on call and ready to respond if an emergency arose. Quokka guided Lucas and Yasi through the planning process, providing excellent feedback and encouragement at every step and allowing them to take ownership of their adventure. And back home, Brumby was receiving all of the check-ins and keeping an eye on things from afar. 🧭📲

It truly takes a team to create opportunities like this, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part… both on the track and behind the scenes.

Three days, 26km, plenty of sunshine, tired legs and lots of memories… what a fantastic example of learning by doing, taking responsibility and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone.

⚜️ Well done Lucas and Yasi! You should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved! ⚜️
