On Monday night, our Scouts learned how to build stretchers using materials commonly found on a hike, preparing them to respond if someone is injured while out in the field.

It was fantastic to see the Scouts working together, using problem solving skills, creativity, and teamwork to create sturdy and practical stretcher designs.

Great teamwork, Scouts!

Last night our Joey Scouts worked towards their SES Badge by learning how to safely use a range of tools, while also practising clove hitches, reef knots and bowlines at our knot station.

The Joeys gained so much from this hands-on experience, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our parents, older siblings, extended family and friends who generously shared their time and knowledge.

A huge thank you to Magpie, Kookaburra and Raven for the many hours of planning, coordination and preparation that went into creating such a valuable learning experience. Your dedication ensures our Joeys have opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence and have fun along the way.

Scouting is truly a team effort, and tonight was a wonderful example of our community coming together to help our Joeys learn and grow.

🎉 Congratulations to Eloise on completing her Adventurous Journey! 🎉

Yesterday, Eloise took on the challenge of the Witches Falls track at Mount Tamborine, tackling an impressive 4.2km Grade 4 hike as part of her Joey Scout Adventurous Journey.

This was no easy feat, but Eloise approached it with determination, enthusiasm and plenty of confidence. She embraced her leadership role, gave clear directions, kept the group on track and showed fantastic teamwork throughout the journey.

Adventurous Journeys are all about stepping outside your comfort zone, building resilience, developing leadership skills and creating lasting memories. Eloise did all of that and more!

We are incredibly proud of her achievement and the positive attitude she brought to every step of the adventure.

Well done, Eloise, what a wonderful milestone in your Joey Scout journey! 🌿🥾👏

Over the last two weeks, our Shailer Park Scout Group has had the opportunity to learn about the important role the SES plays in our community and how their volunteers support people during emergencies and challenging situations.

Our Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts gained valuable insight into the skills, equipment, and dedication required to assist the broader community when it matters most. We are incredibly grateful to the SES volunteers who generously shared their time, knowledge, and experiences, helping our young people better understand the importance of service, teamwork, and community spirit.

Thank you to the team Logan East State Emergency Sevice for their time and inspiring the next generation of community-minded leaders.

On Monday, Ryan(Dingo) was presented with his Wood Badge and the iconic wooden beads. A proud achievement and significant milestone in his Scouting journey.

The Wood Badge is the highest level of adult leader training in Scouting. More than just a course, it develops leadership, communication, teamwork, mentoring, and planning skills that help leaders create amazing experiences for our young people.

As part of his Wood Badge project, Dingo revitalised our Scout fire pit area. Saving logs destined for the woodchipper, he recycled them into seating for our Scouting community, creating a welcoming space where Scouts can gather, learn, share stories, and build friendships around the campfire.

To celebrate his achievement, our Scouts organised a special Fire Pit Lighting Ceremony, bringing everyone together to officially open the revitalised area and recognise Dingo’s hard work and dedication.

Those who complete their Wood Badge earn the right to wear the iconic wooden beads, a symbol of commitment, learning, and service that dates back to Scouting’s founder, Baden-Powell.

Behind every successful Scout Group are dedicated volunteers who continually learn and grow to provide the best possible program for our youth.

Bravo, Dingo! 👏 Thank you for your commitment to Scouting and for the positive impact you make on the lives of our scouting community.
