It was a great day yesterday at the Charters Towers Jobs Expo with a couple of hundred youths from our various high schools coming to Gold Towers to explore future career options.
With stalls from QPS, QAS, ADF, PCYC, Qld Health, heavy industry, local government, building, community organizations and many more there was plenty for everyone.
These young people are tomorrows leaders so it was great to see how interested they are in begining their own journeys.

PCYC Charters Towers is grateful to have such a dedicated group of Driver Mentors who are the backbone of our BTC (Braking The Cycle) driving program.
Our mentor group is made up of locals and emergency services personell who take the time to teach the next generation of young drivers and help them get their drivers licenes.
To show our gratitude several of our mentors were recently given service certificates and a box of chocolates.
Does becoming a PCYC Charters Towers BTC Mentor interest you?

Our community turned up in good numbers despite the rain which somehow made the Colour Run even better!
Big thanks goes out to our partners Prospect Community Services Ltd. and staff from PCYC Townsville & PCYC Upper Ross who joined us to make the event a success.

The PCYC Charters Towers Watch This Truck road safety event was a great success today.
The first part of the session saw year 11 and 12 students attend for a truck based road safety information session followed by Q & A delivered by Andrew from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
The second part of the session saw students able to sit in the drivers seat of a truck and cattle trailer alongside PCYC Volunteer and truck driver Lachlan to experience what a truck driver can and can't see.
Many of these youths are learner drivers and thanks to our subject matter experts took away some potentially life saving knowlege.
A big thanks to all our attendees and partners in particular Powerlink and Phil WARNER who made this important event a success.
