Applications for Union Summer 2027 are now OPEN!

Union Summer is where future organisers join the rank and file.

Run by VTHC, the Young Workers Centre and affiliated Unions, Union Summer is a fully paid internship designed to introcduce people ages 30 and under to unionism.

Union Summer 2027 will run for three weeks in February.

Working overtime comes with cash money!

The Hair and Beauty Industry Award says
For overtime worked:
Full-time and part-time employees
receive the following % of minimum hourly rate
Monday to Saturday—first 3 hours
150%
Monday to Saturday—after 3 hours
200%
Sunday—all overtime hours
200%
Public holiday—all overtime hours
250%
Rostered day off—all overtime hours
200%

Casuals employees add an extra 25% to those figures.

You must be paid for every hour you work. You must also be paid the correct rate of pay for all of those hours.

Check your payslip, check your Award, know your right and know when to demand them.
