The average gender pay gap in the Australian fashion industry is 11%. Seafolly's gap stood at 56%, as of their last published data. Five times higher, at a company that exists because of women.

And this year, instead of addressing it, they stopped reporting altogether. Equal Pay Day is a reminder that the gap is real, it's measurable, and companies have no excuse not to act.

Today, allied health workers walked off the job for 24 hours and rallied outside Peter Mac. These are the physios, the OTs, the speech pathologists, the social workers who keep our public health system running. They've been bargaining for almost a year and they still don't have a fair deal. We were there with them today because their fight is all of our fight.

The union movement has always stood with survivors of family violence. It's why we campaigned to win 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave for every worker.

We welcome the Victorian government's proposed change to the Equal Opportunity Act to make it unlawful to discriminate against someone experiencing family violence. No worker should be passed over for promotion or treated differently because they have or are experiencing family violence.
