🎡CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS – 2027 CARINA CARNIVAL ORGANISING COMMITTEE🎡

We're looking for enthusiastic parents, carers, grandparents, and community members to help start planning our 2027 Carina Carnival!

The Carina Carnival is one of our school's biggest community events, and we're looking for volunteers to join the organising team and help bring it to life. Whether you have experience in event planning or simply want to get involved and support our school community, we'd love to hear from you.

🌟 National Volunteer Week 2026 & P&C Day Today - Thank You to all our wonderful volunteers! 🌟

As this week is National Volunteer Week, we also recognise P&C Day today May 22 — a special opportunity to acknowledge the important role P&Cs play in strengthening both our school community and all school communities across Queensland. 🎉

We proudly celebrate and thank the incredible volunteers who help make our Carina State School community so special. 💙

From running our weekly Playgroup, bunching flowers, volunteering at events, organising fundraisers, supporting tuckshop, being a member of our P&C Committee, or lending a hand when needed — every contribution makes a difference.

Our P&C is powered by parents, carers, grandparents, and community members who generously give their time, energy, and ideas to support our students and school. We are so grateful for everything you do.

👏 This National Volunteer Week and P&C Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who has volunteered their time, supported our events, or cheered us on throughout the year. 💙

🎨Pictureproducts Fundraiser is Back! 🎨

The P&C is excited to once again be running the Pictureproducts fundraiser — giving our students the chance to turn their artwork, photos, and designs into fun and practical keepsakes that will last for years to come!

Using the children’s own creations, you can order a range of personalised items including:
✨ Plates
✨ Clocks
✨ Water bottles
✨ Mugs
✨ Pencil cases
✨ Tote bags
✨ Calendars

The plates are made from food-safe, dishwasher-safe melamine and all products are designed to be durable, practical, and special keepsakes for families.

📅 Important Dates:
• Orders close - Sunday 21 June at 6:00pm sharp
• Templates sent home - From Monday 22 June
• Completed templates due back - Friday 24 July

Students can decorate their templates using paints, pens, photos, stickers and more — the brighter, the better! 🌈

🚫 Please note:
• No glitter
• No coloured pencils or crayons (they’re not bright enough for printing)

Further information, pricing, and the Pictureproducts leaflet was emailed yesterday, with hard copies coming home with students over the next few days.

We also have a sample plate on display at the school office if you’d like to check out the quality in person!

🎉 The new merged sublimated Sport & House Polos have arrived! 🎉

Students can now wear the new updated polo during PE and Health lessons, as well as sport events at school, combining both the sport and house shirt into one design. 🙌

Please note:
✅ The previous style sport & house polos can still be worn
✅ The new polos are a larger fit than the old style, so please check sizing carefully when ordering, for example: new size 4C is approximately equivalent to an old size 6
✅ Available online and in store

🌸2 More Sleeps To Go! Our 35th Annual Mother’s Day Flower Stall is coming up this weekend! 🌸

🕒 Times: From 3pm Friday 8 May through to Sunday 10 May (or until sold out)

We’re seeking donations of fresh foliage to help make our bouquets extra special.

🌸 Mother’s Day Gift Stall – Thank You! 🌸

A big thank you to everyone who supported today’s Mother’s Day Gift Stall! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students carefully chose their gifts for the special women in their lives 💝

We would also like to give our heartfelt thanks to all the amazing volunteers who organised, setup the stall on Friday and helped students with their purchases today. Your time and enthusiasm made the day run so smoothly – we truly couldn’t have done it without you!

We hope all the mums, grandmothers, and special carers feel extra loved this Mother’s Day 🩷

🎉Exciting News!

We are proud to be successful recipients of a $20,000 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Queensland.

The funding will go directly towards replacing the existing bark softfall in the Prep playground with a safer, more durable rubber softfall surface. It’s an exciting step forward in creating a safer and more inclusive play space - not only for our youngest students, but also for the families who join us at our Tuesday morning Carina State School P&C Playgroup sessions.

We were delighted to welcome Steve Minnikin MP to Carina State School last week to officially present the cheque.

Thank you to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Queensland for contributing funding towards this project - we can’t wait to get started!

🤩The P&C Mother's Day Gift Stall is coming up on Tuesday 5 May!

Students will have the opportunity to choose a special gift for their mums, grandmothers, or someone special in their lives. A range of thoughtful and affordable gifts will be available, making it easy for every child to find something meaningful.

Please remember to send your child with money on the day so they can take part in this lovely tradition.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers who make this event possible each year - we couldn’t do it without you!
