Greyhounds in regional Australia are regularly taken to vets for euthanising when they don't make the grade or their racing days are over. If they are "lucky", they are dumped at the local pound. MAKING A DIFFERENCE
To date we have endeavoured to rehome as many dogs as possible, within our limited financial and manpower capacity. Due to the very nature of our rescue locations being predominantly regional, the costs incurred for transport and temporary kennelling can be extremely limiting for us financially. Another fabulous , this time from handsome new boy Jock! 🤤

It’s a family affair in the GG foster bunch: Jock is the brother of Tilly May, who we rescued a couple of weeks ago. Unlike his sister, Jock aced his freedom nuggets after a good practice run (a 2-minute sniff and lick!).
He’s settling into foster care alongside his new foster sister Izzie, a GG Greyduate snoot 🧡

Need a little pick me up to get you through to the weekend. We’ve got just the thing: Foster Friday with Jack 🥰

We checked in on how new boy Jack was going in foster care today, and we can confidently say he is Jack is settling beautifully into foster life!

He was a little nervous when he first arrived, but his curiosity soon got the better of him and now he's a calm, confident (and very handsome) gentleman around the house 🧡

He's a big fan of his toys and loves a solo play session, tossing them up in the air and entertaining himself. His foster carer says he's been happy home alone for a few hours too, with the neighbours reporting he stayed calm the whole time.

Out on walks, Jack is a keen sniffer and pretty chill. He's polite with other dogs but would rather watch from a distance than say hello. And his foster's favourite thing about him? That velvet fur and those soft eyes. "He looks at you and you melt" 🥹

Forget capes. The real superheroes are wearing Houndtees and custom made snoods 💁‍♀️

Did you know greyhounds can be fantastic blood donors? A large proportion have DEA 1-negative blood, which can make their donations incredibly valuable when another dog needs an urgent transfusion.

Ambassadog Timmy (who you may have met at a Market alongside GG Director, IAABC Behaviour Consultant and greyhound enthusiast Julia), stepped up to provide some blood for a Staffy in need at Port Phillip Animal Hospital this week. He’s the perfect candidate - He loves the vet, being fed treats and getting copious amounts of pats.

Today’s is brought to you by the gorgeous Grace! 🧡

A dual collection who could not be more different if they tried, we are so excited to introduce our new arrivals three year old Edna and five year old Grace.

Edna (little Eddie) is an introvert with the most inky black face and very earnest expression. She’s a darling petite girl, who just needs to take things at her own pace. She declined her nuggies in favour of cuddling up in a safe corner of the car to rest after a big morning.

Classic extrovert sugar-face-Grace with a chunky noggin’ and a b***y to match is a real party girl! She leaned in to the excitement of the day and was more than happy to help out with Eddie’s share of the nuggies.

It’s Stick Sunday, with special guest host and resident Stick Expert, foster Ursula! When asked what she looks for in a stick, Ursula said “bark” 😉

Affectionately known as little Ula, this 26kg two year old is the perfect mix of energetic bouncy bean and cuddly couch goblin. She’s looking for a home close to quiet parks and nature reserves for her stick collecting strolls, and would love a confident canine sibling for company.

1 October is ‘Black Dog Day’ - a day to celebrate our wonderful noir noodles and to advocate for the adoption of the dogs who are often the most overlooked within foster programs. At GG, our big, black, boys can spend up to three times longer in foster care, waiting for the perfect person who will love their outsides just as much as their insides 🧡

Well, this is a first... We were hoping to be sharing a new , but miss Tilly May had other plans! Disgruntled from her bath, and then presented with a crunchy little morsel she said "you can keep that, thanks."

Oh well, you can't win them all! Please welcome our newest and bluest arrival, the sweetest and fluffiest little three year old lady.

🧡 Tilly May is a gorgeous social girl and is settling into foster care in an apartment Collingwood, taking busy streets, slippery floors, elevators, and balconies in stride!

A little late but no less fabulous from new boy Jack!

This handsome 3 year old fawn boy was collected from Ballarat last Saturday. He has not raced and has never even seen a lead, so the world is a bit scary for him right now. But he's been so brave and willing to give everything a go 🥹

His first freedom nuggets were a slow start (lots of licking 👅), but once he worked them out, it was a very resounding "YES PLEASE!"

Jack is living his best rescued life out in Warranwood, surrounded by nature trails he's going to love 🌿 He's sleeping soundly, greeting visitors with a peeking eye 👀 and a tail wag, and already winning over the neighbours.

Welcome to freedom, sweet boy! 🧡
