🏆 Race Day Wrap – What. A. Day. 🏆
Well team… Saturday was an absolute masterclass in community engagement, operational excellence, and pure Burra creek chaos.
Massive congrats to all our winners across the Under 12’s, Under 16’s, Ladies and Open divisions – you all delivered high-performance boating outcomes under conditions that could politely be described as “dynamic”.
The Ladies Race delivered one of the most special finishes of the entire event.
Cher & Jade took out the win and earned their place on the shield — and the goosebump moment? Their Grandma Raline was the last person to have her name on that very same shield in the same vessel, over 30 years ago.
That’s generational greatness… and exactly what this whole event is about.
Special shoutout to the Open lads, who delivered the comeback of the century.
While getting a tow to the start line they managed to tip the whole boat, send it straight to the bottom, and still — with five minutes left — flip it, drain it, relaunch it, and win the race.
That’s not luck, that’s “rapid-response operational excellence”.
Our Best Boat Award went to Vicki Van Gastron & Kelly Divine – “Mum’s a Drunk”.
Vicki showcased elite beverage-flow management by responsibly consuming every 4X that lined the boat. Inspirational leadership.
Best Dressed went to Leone Taylor & Beck Thompson, who had what we’ll diplomatically call “a full lifecycle boating experience”:
– Broke one boat
– Sank another
– And only just crossed the line in the third
But hey — they looked phenomenal doing it. KPI achieved.
Huge appreciation to our officials, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, parents, kids and everyone who leaned in to make the day what it was. The community buy-in was next-level.

Burra — you showed up, showed out, and occasionally went under.
Same time next year? Let’s scale it even bigger.
