🚩 Spot the red flags

What your child might not notice… others might

Whether they’re posting photos or sharing everyday moments online, personal details in the background can reveal more than intended.

Things like school logos, street signs and names can give away more than you think.

Starting open conversations about online safety can help them make safer choices online.

Scammers increasingly use text messages to target victims.

• Be suspicious of messages claiming account problems or missed deliveries
• Never click links in unexpected texts
• Contact the organisation directly if you're unsure

A text message can be just as dangerous as a scam email.

Be prepared - Changes come into effect from 1 July

Apple has announced a set of new safety features to help keep children safe.

These new tools are designed to allow parents to manage:
👀 the content their children can see
💬 who their children can communicate with
⏱ when their children have access to apps
🚸 settings to support age-appropriate experiences.

We encourage parents to use these new features when they become available. Features such as Age Range for Apps can be enabled right now in family settings, with other features becoming available later this year.

Apple's announcement follows eSafety's consistent exposure of safety shortcomings through its transparency reports and marks a step in the right direction by big tech.

While we're pleased to see this positive step, we'll continue to push for further improvements to protect children from sexual abuse online and harmful material and features. It's important to understand these changes aren't a silver bullet. For example, children aged 13+ will still be able to click through warnings and view images without parental consent. It's essential that parents continue to talk to children about their experiences on their devices.
