Today we recognise Mabo Day ❤️🖤💛

A day to honour Eddie Koiki Mabo and his efforts towards the historic High Court decision recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ connection to land.

Mabo spent a decade seeking official recognition and his work paid off! The landmark decision rejected the idea of terra nullius (land belonging to no one) and recognised the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Traditional Owners of Country.

Mabo Day is a time to reflect on truth, justice and the ongoing connection to land, culture and community.
