BHS do great things. Just like Abby a proud former student of Bomaderry High School, graduating in 2011, who has since returned as a valued member of staff, working as a School Administrative Officer for the past 10 years.

Abby says the best part of her role is working in a school environment with young people: β€œI could do admin anywhere, but being in a school makes it meaningful. Every day is different, and we’re always finding new ways to support students.”

After leaving school, Abby worked in retail before making the move into administration. When casual work became available at BHS, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to step into a new career, returning to a place that already felt familiar and welcoming. β€œEven with all the changes over the years, it still feels like home.”

A defining memory from her time as a student was the support she received in Year 12 from her English teacher, Ms Forsyth. Abby reflects on how this experience helped her develop resilience and a belief in her ability to work through challenges, even when things felt difficult. She also credits this relationship with shaping how she interacts with students today, leading with empathy, fairness, and consistency.

Abby has seen significant change at BHS since her student days, including new leadership, upgraded facilities, and increased use of technology in teaching and learning. However, she says the core of the school remains unchanged: strong relationships, dedicated staff, positive morale, and a genuine commitment to student success.

What she values most is the lifelong connection to the school community. β€œBeing part of BHS doesn’t end when you graduate, it stays with you. It’s a quality experience as a student, staff member, and now even as a future parent.”

Abby continues to draw on her own experiences as a student to support and connect with young people, aiming to be a trusted and positive presence in their school journey.

A true BHS story- then, now, and always.β€πŸ’š
