The river is well up over the low level bridge at Valencia Creek. Please go via the Bushy Park road to get here.

Local police are patrolling flooded areas - stay safe, and never risk driving through floodwaters. If it’s flooded, forget it. 🦆

The Fire Danger Period has been declared by CFA for Wellington Shire, starting on Monday 5th October.

The Fire Danger Period has been declared by CFA for Wellington Shire, starting on Monday 5 October.

The Fire Danger Period restricts the use of fire outdoors during the fire season to help prevent fires starting.

Fires can only be lit during the Fire Danger Period with a fire permit.

A Total Fire Ban day can be declared any time of the year and no fires can be lit.

Please take care with any burning off or bonfires you’re planning before the start of these fire restrictions.

🔥Register your burn with CFA on 1800 668 511.
🔥Check weather conditions for the time of ignition and a few days afterwards.
🔥Always monitor your burn while it is lit and check it afterwards to make sure it’s fully extinguished.

🚨 CONGRATULATIONS ABBEY! 🚨

A massive shout-out to our very own Community Safety Officer, Abbey Walsh, who represented Gippsland over the weekend at the 2026 VAS Ltd Rural Ambassador State Finals at the Melbourne Royal Show! 🌾✨

In a fiercely competitive field of outstanding young leaders from across Victoria, Abbey shone incredibly bright and took home Runner-Up! 🏆🥈

The finalists were judged on everything from community involvement and rural knowledge to public speaking, leadership goals, and presentation. We already knew Abbey possessed all of these qualities in spades, and now the whole state does too!

Abbey, the brigade and the Boisdale community are incredibly proud of you. Thank you for all the work you do for the local community and for representing Gippsland so beautifully on the big stage! 🚒❤️

🔴 LEAVING EARLY IS THE SAFEST OPTION: Lessons from the Loch Sport Fire

The recent bushfire along the Longford-Loch Sport Road is a stark reminder of how fast a fire changes when the wind takes over.

Fueled by strong winds, the fire shifted rapidly, creating erratic spot fires and forcing road closures.

When the wind is driving a fire, waiting to see what happens is a fatal mistake.

Why leaving early is your only safe option:

• Roads cut off fast: The Longford-Loch Sport Road was quickly blocked. Leaving late means your only way out could be closed.

• Embers travel kilometres: Wind carries embers far ahead of the main fire front, trapping people before they even see the flames.

• Visibility drops to zero: Heavy smoke and blowing ash make driving extremely dangerous.

Don’t risk getting trapped by a sudden wind shift. Pack your essentials, monitor the VicEmergency app, and leave early the moment a threat is identified.

G'day all 👋 How'd ya go getting through Winter?

We have a bit of a fire weather spike day tomorrow, fire danger ratings haven't officially started yet but tomorrow's figures put our area just in the Extreme rating with an FBI of 51.
Those that were in town this time last year will remember how fast the Beaver Meadows fire almost 12 months to the day ago escalated, the forecast conditions tomorrow are far worse than that day.

The bush to our North is in that post Winter pre Spring dry stage & the Equinox winds at this time of year can be quite strong & persistent as you know.

If your up the bush camping or hunting please ensure your camp-fire is attended by an adult at all times with a minimum of 10 liters of water available & fully extinguished when breaking camp.

If you are contemplating doing a burn off or burn pile can you please delay it until conditions ease.

As always I'll endeavour to keep you informed if there is any fire activity in our area.

Just a reminder that if the fore siren sounds for once we have had a fire call but if it is activated multiple time in succession there is something that could potentially require you to activate your fire plan.

Warm and windy weekend. Today has seen a number of escaped burns across the Gippsland area. It may look green but the lack of decent rainfall the landscape has dried out rapidly.

🚨 Busy weekend for our Boisdale Volunteers and other local CFA crews! 🚒🔥

While one of our members completed a chainsaw course, other crews gathered at the Boisdale Hill Climb for a group training exercise. 🧑‍🚒🌾

Crews from Boisdale, Valencia Creek, Cowwarr, Glenmaggie, Coongulla, Newry, Sale, and Maffra worked hard refreshing critical skills:

🚨Mock running grass fire containment
🚨Hazardous tree identification
🚨Entrapment drill crew safety drill

Local brigades are always upskilling to keep our communities safe! 💪🚒
