Sunday 30th of August was opening day for the season 2026-2027. We thank the family of Dick Savage who sponsored the event in memory of their Dad.
Blessed with a sunny afternoon many club members enjoyed activities and games organised by our Board members. Life members Bev Thatcher and John Brisbane were on hand to open the season. Bev sent down the first kitty and John bowled the first bowl! After that random teams of two or three members played two games of 6 ends. This was followed by a great afternoon tea. All agreed it was a great day.

Sunday social Bowls:

It is sad to say that we have played our last Sunday socials for the season. On a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon 14 teams competed playing two games of 10 ends on 23 August Jan Paine and Dennis Carstairs won convincingly with a score of 22.

A new season of bowls begins at Stratford on Sunday August 30th. 1pm start with life members Bev Thatcher and John Brisbane rolling the first bowls. Hope as many members as possible will turn up to join in the fun. Please wear your pennant uniform for the photos. The day is sponsored by the Savage family in memory of Dick. Last Sunday of winter social bowls yesterday. Thanks to Col Russell for juggling teams to give the very newest of bowlers and the old hands enjoyable games. Today’s winners were Jan and Dennis. Runners up were Janelle Lou and Sue. Lots of others pictured enjoying the cheese and cabana after the event- courtesy of Graham’s generosity every Sunday. Next Sunday is the Opening Day of the 2026/27 Season. 1 pm start.

Wayne(Jack) Marsden is playing in the NSW Regional Championships in Ballina and surrounding greens at present. Playing for Eden, the team has won their first 3 matches. Two easy wins followed by a 1 shot win after extra ends were played. Tomorrow they play Tamworth in a final at 9am. Best wishes from all at Stratford Jack and the Eden team!

The U18 Vic Girls got away to a strong start in Rd 1 of the Tri-Series yesterday, and after two hard-fought matches they ended the first day on 2 wins 💙
